Mazco HP-4, Trophy Plus, Powertech TRO4. Any experiences between these? Any opinions on what is the best of the group?

22' Velocity 280 ROS Hyd. Jackplate. Thanks,

Tom

I've ran a Mazco HP-4, heard lots of good things about the Trophy Plus, and also heard good things about the Powertechs.

I really didn't like the Mazco very much when I ran it on my Vegas....it didn't seem to have much bow lift at all. It ran very flat, but it seemed to come out of the hole pretty good.

If I were you, I would go for the Trophy......I've heard nothing but good things about them. I actually bought a 25 Trophy Plus to test out.....but I won't get to run it until this weekend.

The Trophy's are good but not when they are being surfaced. They like to sling blades off of them.

See if you can get your hands on a Bravo 1 wheel, then try them all.I have a mazco re4fast wheel but runs flat, trophy not as fast but good wheel, Bravo wheel just seems to carry my boat just right.I dont have to over trim just feels good.

I had very good luck with a Lightning ET on my Shadow, but a little costly. Chuck.

I just ran the 25 Throphy that I got a while back, and it rocks! It's got tons of lift, and the holeshot is better than any other prop I've ever tried.....even the Mazco 4-blade that I tried a long time ago. Even with 5 people in the boat and 2 full coolers......it was an awsome prop. I'm not sure how it does on the top end.....the lake was to choppy today to run very fast.

I think a lot depends on hull weight, horsepower, engine height etc. I wonder if someone would comment on prop diameter vs. pitch. Is it better to go with more diameter, or more pitch when reproping?

Depends if you need bow lift or not. If you need it I would go with the bigger diameter and if not more pitch. Just my .02.

Thanks. I'm trying to get the setup right on my Apache. Just swtiched from a 200 2.5 to a 3.0 250. It's a heavy boat (about 1600 lbs) and I thought for sure a 23 Trophy plus would be just the ticket. Turns out I can spin the hell out of it. Borrowed a friends 26 pitch Trophy just to get some sort of bench mark.

I've been trying to find a Mazco HP-4 to try but no luck yet.
