I have a 17' open bow glastron, V hull. I have a 2.4 liter '88 Merc. Here are my findings. Can someone tell me the best set up based on these finds? Possible different type of prop or different pitch. I am thinking I should be able to get about 5-7 more mph.

28 Merc chopper 5400 rpm 67 mph
23 balistic 5900 rpm 66.2 mph
24 Merc big ear chopper 6000 rpm 65.3 mph
26 Merc small ear chopper 5700 rpm 65 mph (I should add I ran out of room on this one) So I think I could have got more out of this

Thanks
Eric

howdy ebuck .

from those results it looks like the 28 chopper has the best speed , but the revs are still down.

can only advise you try a 26 chopper & look at your engine height...

cheers AL.

What HP is the 2.4L? I'm assuming it's not a BP. Where is the propshaft height in relationship to the bottom? Do you have any setback?
