has anyone experimented with using solar panel chargers on an outboard while on the water to keep battery up while using stereo?

measure the amp draw for your stereo. amps time 12 = watts. give yourself some pad since the rating is for bright sun light.

Your stereo draws more than it outputs, of course. But this isn't important, since the power draw constantly fluctuates and peaks, and the battery supplies the current anyway. In other words, you would need 1000W of supply just to run a 200 watt system, but in actuality a small solar charger that supplies 5 or 10 watts might be enough to replace the overall average charge that the jammin' stereo is drawing from it. It's big enough to keep it charged, and small enough to mount on top of your cowl. :D
