Well success has found me at last. After a full day thrashing on my boat finishing up the last of the major details. Skip and I fired it up on the hose!! No leaks, no sqeaks, no rattles. WOO HOO!!! Wait it gets better! After borrowing a few odds and ends from Big D. who came to supervise. We decided to go down to the local boat ramp and put it in the water to make sure it would go in to gear. Well making sure it would go into gear led to making sure it would get on plane to a full blown test run on East Lake. Yeah baby had the Tower of Power talkin to me!! The boat is a blast to drive. It's not gonna set any speed records, but it sure it a lot of fun!! Its very stable, porpoises a little as I'm coming off plane, but that ain't bad. Its gonna be a fun summer that's fer sure!!! She still needs some cosmetic attention, and some preventive maintnance to give peace of mind. The important thing is I GOT TO GO FOR A BOAT RIDE IN MY BOAT!!!
Thank you to the following people:
Talon 2.5
Big D
Hydrostream Dave
Rickracer
Paul Vaillancourt (That prop was PERFECT)
H20Nut - for staying at home :D
Things look really good for Palatka!!

what a day you had . i know it is kool to run your boat for the first time. glad to hear you floating and the best part is you went for a ride AND YOU CAME BACK without pushing that line!!
we had great day too, played with sammys mirage and got to see 2.6 mph gps better than when we ran in alligator. man i love when you can tweek and speed up. hate it when you work all day and lose a few.

Raceman, it's an 18' Stallion tunnel vee. We hung a '78 1400 on the back. With the setback built into the hull, the 10" jackplate, and the custom made lift plate, the motor is about 1 time zone behind the rest of the boat. The pics are on page 32 of the Reader's Rides thread. The motor is up about another inch and change now than when those pictures were taken.
Dan, I'll holler for sure if I need parts. Actually now that I think about it. You wouldn't happen to have a clean, straight, front cover would you? Mine's pretty well beat up from hittin all them Florida size mosquitoes while goin across the lake. :D
Hey I actually did better than you. All we did was hang the motor on it and got a 2.6 mph improvement. I was 2.6 mph faster idling out of the basin than I was the week before. Don't go gettin too fast now, Y'all be fightin to stay on plane while I'm fightin to keep up!!!:D

well i'm very happy to be replying to this post
you should have seen shorepounder air that badboy out :D
if that ole inline had any cobwebs in it............it dont now!!!
he had it riding picture perfect, bow up riding on the back of the pad with a long lean and low rooster out the back as he went by the dock and then back by the dock, and then back by the dock, and then back by the dock, and then back by the dock and each time he went by it was hanging perfect, i started to wonder how much fuel he had though hehehehe
big-D and i were having a ball just standing at the dock watching how he was hanging it out to dry :D
then he came in to the trailer with this look on his face :D and we knew his first run was a good one
congratulations on your success thus far with the new ride, the name shorepounder now holds a new meaning..........he was pounding the shore with his multiple pass ripples, i say ripples instead of wakes because there wasnt enough boat in the water to cause a wake :D

I guess nobody told Skydog that the guy with the fastest boat buys the beer. :D Fine with me, We'll just keep it that way. We can get a couple of cases out of him before we have to tell him. :D
Hey Dan, That's the beautiful thing about this setup. It's easy to drive and easy to figure out. The first time I got a chance to really put the hammer down, I started playing with the trim. I kept waiting for the "loose" feeling in the seat, never got that, but the bow came up and so did the rpms without adding throttle. It got to a point where it just started to chine walk a little, so I bumped the trim down twice and it stopped. If we'd had some more daylight and I'd known how much fuel I had left (haven't wired up the fuel gauge yet) I'd have played around a bit more, but there will be plenty of time for that later. I swear I don't know who had the bigger grin on their face when I came idling up to the ramp. Me or Talon2.5 and big D. After I get her all legal, I'm gonna let someone else drive it so I can see how it looks.
