View Full Version : 1946 Mercury Comet
Here's a buddy of mine's 1946 Mercury Comet that he bought off Ebay and restored. Runs like a champ! He got the original box, an original oil can, and the original manual. Was in some guys basement for decades. He borrowed a boat and took it for a spin yesterday. I'm hoping to get some action shots or a video later.

Actually quite a few Mercs of that era are in amazing condition. This one may be the absolute best, but others are not far behind. There are even some pre-Merc Thors floating around at AOMCI meets: www.aomci.org

and never been used, I bet Mercury Marine themselves would be very interested in buying it(at any price). Especially since it has the original box, etc...What a find! AirRide

Merc factory kept a reference sample of each motor produced ... I bet they still have theirs :)

Wasn't unused, just not used a lot then stored away in a basement for many moons. He's gotten some interest in buying it, what do you think he should ask for something in this condition?

not easy to put a dollar value on somthing like that ....
think it would be of more value to a collector , rather than a going concern...
cheers AL..;)
