Thanks for posting the pics.
We've been rinning the boat since Friday and its doing about 80 and hitting the rev limiter pretty easy at 6500 RPM's its turning a 25 Lazer thinking about a 27 or 28 Chopper what do you think
 :p
Does any one want one of those in yellow, I have someone who is getting a CUDA and has a 18ft Talon now.

I was running a 30 Hoss Triton and it was a great prop for that boat. Gave me good bow lift and ran very stable.

  Well we were out in the boat on Saturday afternoon and were pulling into the marina about to dock when we noticed that we didn't have any revearse. Needless to say that the whole gear case needs to be replaced due to a peace breaking off inside. Luckely no damage to any of the gears but 3000 bucks just for a bare gear case is a little insaine!!!!
The dealer is piching in a 1000 bucks towards it but I feel that they should pay for the whole thing. Only 2 hours of running and that happens, I'm pissed.       :o :o

28 triton Hoss!!!!! get ahold of Parker on the board he has it now they work very well on that hull If your running 80 with a 25?? you should get low to mid 70's ...... a 28 will get you low 80's which is respectable for that hull Get me the vin # on it and I'll give you more info , only 5 have windshields on them ( I had Talon# 7) most early ones where destroyed due to poor (unstable ) design..Looks greeat you'll have a ball in it...8" setback helps too also check the bottom for a rocker in it!!!
Good Luck
Jeff

Thanks for the info: here is the vin TM018112J687
Thats pretty rare then that only 5 had windshields. yes with a 25 Lazer prop with 2 guy in boat and 3/4 fuel it ran 79 GPS hard on rev limiter 6 inch chop.
We should have the gearcase fixed for friday so back on the water.
Any other info would be great, its hard to find anything on these Talons.

TM018112J687
T Talon
M Marine
018 HUll # ya you have # 18
112J6 is the manufactures code ( goverment stuff)
87 is the year
This works with all manufactures
One, windshield thing don't break it it cost them $800 back in 87 thats why they whent away from them........My boat was the mold boat for the rest ( with the redesigned bottom, step moved forward,) and was also used for testing by magazines and cover shots on there sales fliers white with black stripes on the bow....
Try calling Talon marine Robert Wilkens is the guy to speak to but I heard he's retiring?? but it worth a call he can give you the skinny on your boat and who purchased it new.....
Try and find a set back and with 8" you need to run 1 1/2" above the center pod
Fill In your location under user CP???? Please!!!!
This is there flier ( Bottom left)

Put a staight edge on the center pod and you'll see what I meen...there is no flat area to ride on??
There's a post from Talon 2.5 from when I was setting mine up if I can find it I'll post the link he had a pic of it his boat then WOT's was the fastest one I have seen and driven but he spent alot of time lightening and straighting the rocker ( Dave where is that now??)
Here the link to when I set mine up you may learn something or not but it will give you some insight then you can work from there......
