I just rewired my guages cleaning up the mess and I hooked up a relay (possibly bad?) to my ign power for my accessories and turned on the ignition. Dead. No trim, no guages, no starter. Lights, bilge, etc all work fine. Not 30 seconds earlier I was looking at my working guages and turned the motor over a few times. I have no idea where fuses would be. I have an idea they may be in my controls but don't want to take them off the boat then open them up just to find out I'm wrong. Thanks.

On my motor there is an inline fuse by the starter selenoid

I must be loosing it, or I think that these are all connectors when some of them are really an inline sure.

I have found a test light to be most valuable in situations like this. Pictures are nice, but, they don't make up for good solid testing.
Start by making sure you have power at the solenoid, then the starter, and work your way back to the switch, and check your relay. I know I could not seem to get a relay to work on my boat either, possibly due to the on board charger.
Also check the kill switch, disconnect and reconnect. One of these days it will make you look like it has made the rest of us. ;) :D

There is a short 20 amp fuse near the starter solenoid, that is probably the culprit. It sounds like you may have grounded a hot wire off the ign. switch.

Thanks guys... I have power at the solenoid, and the trim relays. My kill switch doesn't affect my trim and ability to crank the motor etc. On the solenoid there are 4 connectors. 2 for the coil, one to the starter, one with power-in. On the power-in post there are 2 additional wires which are bundled up with the other 2 wires leading into a wire loom. I can't find this fuse anywhere. I've disconnected the relay. I'm looking for the fuse because I changed something in the circuit then all of a sudden it didn't work anymore. :(

Oh yeah, and I've removed the main harness connector and from the drawing in the manual I should have 12V on a particular pin, which I do not. I checked them all and there's no 12V on any pin. So this means that my break in the circuit is under the cowl some place... if only I could find the fuse, if there is one?

It looks like a butt connecter.... Hopefully that is a fuse link. You should put a water proof inline fuse in its place.

I'll pull the butt looking connectors apart and check for fuses. That one you're circled goes to my oil tank. There are a few other butt looking connectors I havn't checked. I'll report back. Thanks.

Well I feel stupid.... but at least I know now. There's a little pinkish connector bundled up with the others that looks just like the rest, when you're using a blue LED flashlight....
Thanks for all the help, guys!

Sorry about that... I have a rapair wiring harness, is it is a bit different and takes a long fuse.
The fused wire is in a bundle that goes to the solenoid. One to hot, one to ground the solenoid and the other to power the solenoid.

It's not your fault, I knew the second I found it I'd feel stupid.
On my boat it's nowhere near the solenoid actually (in wiring terms). It's actually just a few inches from the main harness connector, seemingly protecting the controls with a fuse, but not the rest of the motor. Makes sense I hope.
