I almost did, (good thing I looked) cause mine has a near 2" crack in one of the blades.
What really ticks me, is that I only had 64 hours on the prop.
There is no signs of any impact on the blade edges, just a crack.
I'll get a pic of the crack a little later this morning.
Now lets see if Merc will replace it..................

Here are a few shots.
If Merc wont replace it, is it weldable?
Will it hold?
Who would be the best to do the job?

When you run 'em up high that is what happens. Ask Dirk Pitt. I sold him a 27 with less than 2 hours on it. He slung a blade in no time.
Throw it away. Its junk.

Put the 6 year old , (at least), 26 "old style" Trophy on last night, and it has better manners than the 27 Plus, but it isn't as fast.
The thing is, the 26 has been surfaced for at least 6 years, and it will cut through a log, (done it a few times), and still not crack.

We bought a few brand new over the last 2 years (24's & 26's ) that arrived in the box with noticealy bad voids/defects in the hub area. AmityRay pointed it out to me. The quality control on them does suck. When I order new ones I specify to make sure the prop is visually sound before they ship it. Maybe your right. The oldies are goodies ! http://i6.tinypic.com/15510lg.gif

The question should be, who hasn't slung blades off of Trophy Plus props. Lots of people have slung ears, I have one myself that was on my Bullet bassboat that 2 blades are starting to crack. Right in the middle.

What I can't figure is, that I have had the old style 26 Trophy surfacing for over 6 years, (and chopped through many logs),and my buddy has a 26 Trophy Plus that he has surfaced for 4 or 5 years, all with no cracking problems.......... and I crack a blade in 64 hours???................WHAT GIVES?

I have never heard of this problem, and I frequent some of the bass fishing boards. And trust me, the bass fishermen think the Trophy Plus was sent from the Gods. I have a 25" Plus that I use for skiing, but also make speed runs. Don't have a lot of time on it but the motor is fairly high (20" motor at 24.75" transom height). I don't know how high you guys are running yours? I had an older 24" A40 Trophy and experienced a similar thing though, it was 5 mph slower but handled better. The Plus series handles backward, at least that's been my experience. Hell, cut the rest of the blade off, then it will be a three blade, might improve the handling. :D Seriously, good luck with it but I have never heard of a cracked Trophy of any kind. It's gotta be the transom height.

I am running mine lower than most do, (even with the pad), its where it seems to handle the best, and I am after mid range handling, and most of the time top speed doesn't even matter. (but at that height it ran 95.9)

my friend was running once with a mazaco 3 blade...he was running about 94mph,(top speed with that prop) and he slung a blade and all he said happpend was that he slowed down about 10-15mph.

never had a trophy let go, but had a torque shirt let go at 60mph. heard a snapping sound, slowed in speed and vibrated the s@@@ out of the boat. good news was it didnt hit any thing but my pocket book.

I think the real issue is with the prop being balanced, if you happen to get a factory one that is close to being balanced it will last allot longer than one that is not. They say you can take a Trophy and have it blueprinted and balanced and they will last. I ran a 26 for 3 years 1.5" above the pad and never had a problem plus it was one of the fastest props that I had run at the time. Then you have people that will crack a blade within a week.

my bet is internal defects. i wouldn't use one without magnfluxing the blades.

.... ???
Not this one and not sure what boards you're visiting but if you'll drop by www.fastbass.com and ask the same question, I suspect you'll get a totally different viewpoint.
I don't plan to buy another Trophy unless I've seen that Mercury has made some improvements in casting and quality control. The 27's run good while they still have all the blades.....but that's the problem, keeping the blades on 'em.
Granted, we run 'em higher but my last 27 probably had fewer than 10 hours on it.
The 26's seem to have a better reputation but they will also crack/sling blades.
They seem to hold up better on applications where they are run well below the pad.

alot of times the blade comes off hits the anti- cav plate, damages it and then bends the prop shaft, i have almost new 26 chopper thats doing the same, if you weld it, check it before and after every run ... the shop should spin balance it 4 you after the repair, then you can resell it like so many fellow boaters do on here, can you say burned!!

forgot to add i have a 24 trophy older one ... plugged a rock and took half an inch off all blades.... city wide welding out here built up the blades to stock and balanced it 4 200 cash and she works with no signs off cracking but is afew miles slower , good luck:cool:

Makes you almost scared to run ANY PROP with that much at stake.
You have to think REALLY HARD about ever running any prop that has been welded on.
Hell, makes me worry about getting another 27 Trophy Plus now.
But besides my older style 26, it is the best handling prop I have run so far.
Rounded a corner full power with too much trim (showing off), I cracked my 26" Laser II just like you show in the pics. No dings or damage anywhere on the prop, obvious quality issue. Prop was 2 years old. I took it back to a reputable Mercury dealer in town. They got Mercury to go half with me, so a new identical prop cost me $240....................
