Hi..need help setting up the Euro with a 200 XS opti. I have a mazco RE4 27 pitch prop which pulls hard all the way to 6500 redline, but cant get the top speed Im expecting. Im running around 80mph at 6500 (80mph@6500) & think I can do better if I change props..anyone running a sim engine with the Euro? The prevoius owner said he was running low 90mph with the same prop, but I really doubt that....any ideas?? thanks.
I run around Lake simcoe & lake Muskoka....blue & white Euro...so which props work better in rough water/ calm water..thanks!
hey scott, welcome to S&F. 6500rpms w/ 10% slip works out to exactly 80mph, (1% slip is is 88mph) so 90 with a 27p is probably a little optimistic with your rev limiter. on the prop calculator, a 30p puts you at 89 with 10% slip, and a 32 is right at 95mph if you can turn it.
I've run a mazco RE3 on my euro and liked it but got a lot of steering torque with it. Lots of folks run either an ET or a cleaver on the euro. Personally, I like the ET the best as I could not get enough bow lift with the cleaver, but helmut I think ran a cleaver on his euro up into the high 120's or low 130's mph, so you pretty much cannot argue with his results. I also picked up a couple mph with the ET over the mazco.

Thanks phish you confirmed what I was thinking....I like the idea of going quicker...who makes a good cleaver?
here is a feature article using a euro with a 2.5xs. It also has a lower rev limiter (6800rpms), so they used a 15x34 labbed cleaver to hit 106mph.

the limiter is just over 6725, can you raise the motor slightly to gain the rpm.
