Motor cowling straps

Does anyone know where to get the rubber (ball in socket) straps that you use to hold the motor cowling on ? What is the proper name for them? :rolleyes:

I think I have the part numbers for all that hardware at home. I'll check and post them if I do.

Part #for the strap is 817708 at 9.40 a pop. Rick can probably get them cheaper. The retainer is 13734 at 10.20.

Either they're different for the 2.4 and 2.5 cowl or there has been some superseding. I copied the 2.4's since that's what I have, but which do you need CNT?

Were off Merc parts Express for my motor which is a '94 2.5. Do you think they're different?

Mine were from the Midas Merc parts CD, and are for the merc lightweight cowl.. After I get off line in a minute I'll check on the 2.5 and see if I have the same number as you do for that motor.

Got an invoice that says P/N 817708 at $8.46 a piece. The list says BRACKET - COWL. Bought for a 2.5............

I have 3 spares (used, but in good shape). How many do you need?

Forget the retainers and cotter pins. Use small stainless steel bolts, washers, and nyloc nuts. A heck of a lot cheaper, look better, and no rust! See pic.

Didn't think to get the retaine for either the 2.4 or 2.5. If anybody needs them shoot me an e-mail or I'll post them later.
