View Full Version : G-Train's NEW BOAT

I picked up a new boat over the winter. Been quiet about it until I got it in the water.
2004 River Rocket 3-seater (or single). looks like it's about a month old. The guy really took care of this one. Wally at Triad said he couldn't build me a nicer one, so I went to South Carolina and picked it up. Had a stock 260 on it, put my mod 260 on it, and the stocker on my old (95) River Rocket...I can't believe I 2 Rockets now. Sold the Hydrostream, so now the kids get to drive my old Rocket (damn, I wish I was one of my kids).
This boat is a sister to Robbie Lamkin's white/black Lake Racer boat, and the boat Dixon went 150+ in. They ware all made very close to the same time, and at very close weights.
I cannot believe the difference in workmanship, and rigging from my Summerford, to this Triad version, Wally and crew are the ulimate professional, IMO.
Here are some pics, before I bought it.
I will get more recent pics soon.
I don't think this boat was ever for sale on S&F, so most have never seen it.

I wish my garage was that clean...that's the guy I bought it from's garage.
It's almost too purdy to drive though.
I've had the Rub Rail Powder Coated Black, and changed the motor Graphics to Blue (they did a $hitty job though).
I'd like to race, but not sure yet. Motor wasn't at it's best a Jasper last year, and it showed, with a middle pack finish. Will try to figure it out, or it gets tore down again (holes straightened, re-nic, etc, etc). Maybe the old mod 95 260 needs retirement?
I should be at the Rumble...you goin?
See ya

Nice lookin' boat G-Train! Congrats on the new ride, I got a feeling you're gonna race it-your stuff is always consistant and real fast.
Does this mean you're going to be towing 2 boats in tandem again ;)

Anthony...I can't think of another Outboard Hull I would buy, unless I went large and got a Skater.
Ben...No Lake Racer for this one, I'd have to add 500 lbs. I'm thinking of getting my butt spanked in Pro Gas, or higher, if I do anything. Need some more motor though.
Mike W...Mine too
SMS, Pete...Thanks
Boston...Is that you Dennis V? I DO plan to have fun with it:D
Mod22...No more Tandem towing...I got busted last time, and a very stern warning. The kids will tow the Red one themselves.
Thanks

That is the sister boat to the 151 boat. They only weighed like five pounds different. That boat went 118 with that stock 260 with a 29 Mazco. Nice boat.

Scott "Happy" Gilmore...the coolers are in the Sponsons...if you rode withme, I make Lake Racer weight with all the beer.
Mark...missed you this weekend at Hardy...what black boat?
Jon...yes indeed, the Lower is just fine.
Rich...Surprisingly, no holes that ain't supposed to be there, but it really needs to be freshened up.
Michael...I met you in Jasper last year, and talked a while. Wally told me this one was nice, and man was he right. See you at Jasper again? I haven't tried for a big number yet, don't know how hard I'll push top end, but I DO LOVE the accelleration.
HydroV...we don't get out that way, stay mainly on Hardy Pond, if we do go that way, I'll try to remember to drop a PM to you.
Thanks all

I bought a 2nd boat, A 21' Eliminator Daytona V-drive. It's great having four seats and it does the rough water at Hardy better than a 19' jet hull.

A guy in northern Ca has one just like it and he got it up to 135 in the 1/4 mi so I know the potential is there.
I'm thinking the Turbo motor will make it's way in there over the next winter.

The way it came with the blown 460 Ford in there is not setting the world on fire by any means. It ran 80 real easy with two of us and was still pulling pretty good. It may go 90 or 95 as is. You guys can use me for someone to beat up on at Hardy when I show up with it.
Even with that turbo motor in there I have my doubts that it will accellerate with some of the big outboards you guys have. It's just all around a larger heavier boat.
The top end pull should be incredible though.
I'm at the point where I want something more useable now.
