I'm re-powering my Vegas XT with a 06 250 xs, need help deciding on the gear ratio in the Sportmaster, I have a 141/2 x 32 Lightning ET that I hope will be perfect. The boat is light, all epoxy and balsa construction. Will I be better off with the 1.62 or the 1.75?

Doesn't the offshore and fishin' motors have 2 different rpm limits? Which 1 are you getting? That would tell you which 1 to get if your using the 32ET. I would say 1.62 for the fishin' motor and 1.75 for the offshore.

If you are spinning props that big, get the 1.62's, it would be easier to find props smaller than 32 if you needed versus bigger. 1.62's!
I run 1.62's on my Stroker Bass Boat, if I had gone with 1.75's I'd be trying to buy 34P props. My boat weighs 1200 pounds and will run mid 90's with these gears.
