Need Part # for The Thickest Head Gasket For a 2.4 Is it around .070 Thick.:confused:

...there is only one thickness for the 2.4. But then again, I'm not a Merc guru by any means. :cool:

I'm not sure you can do this with a merc but on my Buick Grand National I ran 2 head gaskets on top of each other.. But these were a steel shim head Gasket.. Whats the worse that could happen.. You blow a head gasket..

I have never stacked two heads gasket together, but I can think of two good reasons not to do it.

Gasket mfc don’t recommend it because of potential leaks and your dramatically increasing the squish band (distance between top of piston and head) causing potential detonation problems. There are tons of articles available that go into great detail about squish band measurements and their effects on performance.

If you’ve got too much compression there are better ways to solve the problem.
