greg do you ever use a polarized filter? i picked a circular type polarized filter for my 70-300 the other day and thought it may help out bringing out the colors. did i waste my money?

Casey, you didn't waste your money :) - a polarizer is a must-have for outdoor photography, and while I rarely use one, I always keep it in my case. They can really help with cutting glare in specific situations. Remember though, they they will cut light transmission as well, so check your shutter speed and exposure. Use them only in very bright light for action shots. A neutral density filter is also great for very bright days.
