I know that I might be opening a big can of worms,but....;I just want peoples OPINIONS.What are the best quality and performing props out there?I've been stuck on Yamaha props for awhile(and like them),but keep looking on Ebay...And which are best to stay away from?I'm talking about acceleration and speed for one day, switching props ,and waterskiing another. Thanks,Tom

Well, it all depends on your setup. What type of boat is it on? What size motor do you have? How much set back are you running? Do you have an adjustable jackplate such as a hydraulic one where you can move your height up and down real easy? Does your boat need bow lift? Does it have a pad? I could go on and on with questions. Everybodies setups are different and all require different props. My favorite prop that works the best on my boat is a Spinelli 14x32 Cleaver.

I have gotten the impression that Spinellis are good props.I wasn't really talking about a particular setup for MY boat...just a general feel for who puts good metal and performance in their props.Who takes pride in their work(and who doesn't).What brands seem to hold up the best. That sort of thing.

What I have experienced and seen what my friends have experienced that about all the manufacturers have good props for their application. Sure there will be the occasinial junk piece that gets through but basically I havn't heard of any prop manufacuturer to stay away from. We have ran Mazco's, Hoss's, Merc Choppers', Merc Laser's, Spinelli's, OMC Cleavers and SRX. Years ago I tried a Michigan prop and it worked ok but switched to a LaserII and it was alot better. The Mazco developed a crack and so did the small ear Chopper. The Cleavers are holding up great. Guess it's just what you like.

I've been doing a search for Spinelli props and stumbled across this. Interesting prop tests from a guy that knows outboards. Thought you might like to read it.
