Getting to know more about mechanics

hello everyone.
i am wondering if there is anyway to learn about building and reparing motors. I have checked out the municipal offices and they do not offer such courses. i was wondering what i should do. Should i just hand around the shop at my local marina and learn from the mechanics (im not looking to get paid, just to learn something), or should i keep looking for a course to take on small engines ( i dont think this will teach me all i know).

There are several good publications to help you, In Orlando Florida is an Outboard school , dont know if ya want to take that route
