The worst 2.5 blow up I've ever seen

Friend of mine was out in East Lake on Sunday testing props for Marathon Offshore Race in a few weeks when he blew the motor. When they removed the cowl he told me pieces fell into the water. You can stand on one side of the motor and look through to the other side. That sucks

when those rase motors go at over 8000 rpm thing seem to get real bad real quick. it might be fixable.... yeah ok. that really sucks . at least it didnt happen durring the race..

Seen that before. Injectors, stlii encased in aluminum hanging by the wiring, BIG picture window from one side to the other. When 2.5's go BOOM, they really go BOOM.

See it so bad you could lift off the upper 4 cylinders by the flywheel as the block was literally cut in half.
Seen fireballs, SVS's cut in half, heads pushed off, inverted reed cages.

Some are pretty spectacular.

the motor when it came out of the water. it was very bad. did not have the camera with me at the time. #6 let go the injector was missing and there was a window from the injector hole to the back half. the sleeve was broken in the block. it look like it froze the piston and broke the rod. they where very lucky it did not catch on fire. by the way he is looking for a fresh 280 drop on.
