Does anyone that has run the 175 Verado know how it compares to say a 200 Optimax or 200 HPDI? I'd like to know how it ran on a 21' Contender or even a 19 foot bass boat, but any testing would be good info.

No one has run a 175 Verado? I know Greg said he was onboard a Contender with twin 175's...Anyone run a single and can compare it to a 200HP 2 Stroke?

they run good on the midrange flats and bassboats. pretty much like a 175 opti (2.5L) on bottom, with more top end pull. Comparing the 175 to the 200 dfis, its kind of out of its leauge, the 200s are both big blocks.

I figured the Torque of the super charged 4 stroke would be comparable to the advantage of the 200's being big blocks. But I don't know becaues I've never riden in one, so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for the info

I would personally like to see a comparison between the 150 Opti and the 150 Verado...

I would like to have one to work on souping it up. More boost = more power.

I would like to see Mercury come out with a "racing" version of the 4 cylinder that comes with a Sportmaster and makes 300HP, but I don't think it'll happen.

The I-6 would be too right if they dry sumped it (getting weight in the boat) and got rid of 100lbs or so of weight. Alot of the weight is in that electro-hydraulic steering, cowlings, and the oddball bracket assembly. The engine is built for major boost, and the factory charger is more than enough to supply it. as it sits, the I-6 is making 105hp per litre, 150HP per L in similar engine designs is fairly attainable, even on pump gas. the answer is tuning, tuning, tuning...

I think the I-4 is just a little too small in CID to run with the 2.5 mercs.

some reading that might intrest you about the Verado en-mass before it was even available to the public. http://www.bassandwalleyeboats.com/output.cfm?id=941617

now, lets wait for the trolls.

my only issues with the motor is its weight, its runability didnt personally impress me on the common style of boats around here vs other conventional power options... but that may have been due to setup or other variables.. and its UGLY!!! other than those 3 aspects its just another motor... now im done trolling..

I was wondering about that E85...85% alcohol for a cooler burn and its 100 octane. Could be good stuff for a boosted motor like the Verado.
