Does any one know if the lighting gear case will handle speeds like the sportmaster from mercury?

Go for a reg. case and send it out . The water pick-ups are still way to high. !! .
Just what I've read and what I've noticed while looking at it .
Not sure why they would even produce a Half-assed attempt at a "Speed Case"

I'm less than a mile from you.. Have you heard of the lazarett?? The used marine store. Well it used to be.. Now it is more of a used marine storage. I do all my sales over ebay and here now since the village of Islamorada doesn't allow me signs.. I normally have several boats sitting in my parking lot. Right now I have a Chris Craft and a 30' Third Wheel boat trailer for hauling larger boats.
Hope to meet you some time.. ANd if you into OMC enigne's I'm working on getting a CCC from a guy in homesteade.. I have some parts that he wants and I know I will have no problem selling that CCC..

I've got 6 new 2001 225HO's I'm selling for $8995. I talked to the rep from OMC and he runs one on his 18ft Mirage. He said it runs 104 mph by himself. I asked about a Bob's nosecone. He said the Lightning gearcase is 2-3 mph faster. It does'nt have the low-water pickup, but he said it runs pretty good without it. He's an ex drag racer, so he should know what he's talking about.

Im not sure what he meant but Stoker says he likes um,but they
are "particular".I think he was talking water pressure and trim angle issues.I talked to a dealer in Florida and he said Bombardier
scrapped dumpster loads of parts they obsoleted when they re-engineered a bunch of parts. I wonder what dump they took um to???

FYI
B&WB in July/Aug 2000 tested a 225 Ficht on Stratos 21 comparing a stock gear case, a lightening, and a Jaco nosed coned on a stock gear case.
All cases ran a 26 Raker with a 12” Detwiler Hydrojack.
Results: Stock-76 @6,000 RPM, Lightening-76.8 @ 6,150, Jaco Coned stocker-76.2 @ 6,100.
If your running much faster than 80, or need to raise the lower unit higher than 1½" below the pad then maybe coned unit may be a better choice, otherwise the lightening seems to be a good design.
