Sam Baker,
First let me comend your mom and dad for all the hard work to put the kilo event on, with all the planning, different personalities, rules and regulations, I see it as being almost an impossible venture, which they pull off because of their love of boating, hats off!
You said in one of your post's that the Unlimited Bassboat class probably wouldn't be ran again because " they are getting skittish about the 120 mph speeds" I am just curious who "they" are? I wanted everyone to know that Paul Nichols or myself aren't skittish at 120!, I can't speak for Paul, but I find it quite relaxing myself, not to mention the fact I would have a hell'va time trying to cast out of a capsule, Ha
I appreciate the guys asking about us but tech got Paul and the wind got me, I got to 114 gps once and only averaged 109 I think, I wasting my time trying to break a record in those swells.
I understand ya'll probably have insurance problems to be concerned about, but if you can , I know at least two guy's who are ready to rock! We have a lot of time, money, and hard work to get to this point. With some engine work, and prop work by John Mazar, I was prepared to reach 125+, and talking to Paul, that was his set up also, give us a chance, we'll be careful!
Good meeting you at the Agusta drags last year, hope to spend more time with ya'll this year. Thanks for listening.

It's more likely APBA and the Insurance Company. My parents also don't want anybody to get hurt. If there was a way to limit it to just you guys who have a ton of experience with it, that would be one thing, but unfortunately, anybody can do it and you can have somebody who has been running 110 try to dial it up a notch for that one day and isn't experienced running 120+ and can get hurt.

Currently, pretty much every class in APBA and boat racing in general, has capsules for classes that run 70 MPH and over. So, you guys are so far beyond that that it's almost incomprehensible to think that they wouldn't require a capsule at 120.

I don't know what the future is, I just know that with everything that went on at the last event that it's something that they may not want to keep going forever. I hope they do. I just hope even more that the people who try to break the record are careful and very experienced. I've driven boats as fast as 120 MPH and there's such a huge difference between 110 and 120 that most people don't understand. I've got a ton of respect for you and Paul.

I'm with Shook & Paul on this...... I hate to see the records go away because capsules in bass boats just aren't going to happen. As far as safety is concerned, a capsule is by far the only "real" solution for speeds above 100 mph. Then anyone could jump in a bass boat and blow it over and walk away. The whole idea of being able to run over 120 mph in a bass boat gets back to setup and propellers and that's only possible in a safe manner...... If the setup is not right, you'll never get that fast to begin with before things get out of control.

I don't think there are very many people out there that are capable of running those speeds much less very many that want to try & set a speed record in their bass boats???..... I could be wrong....... maybe there is a whole bunch of people running 120 mph...... I just know how difficult it is for me!!!

I'm all for SAFETY!!!!!!..... I have NO desire to leave my four children fatherless or handicapped!!! If I can't do it safely or if the conditions are not ideal, I won't make the attempt..... It's just not worth it!!!

Anyway, enough ranting for now, I hope we can have unlimited bass boat next year, I'll try & be ready this time.

Thanks, Tim Bostic
