Thanks MercMack, & no Verados this year. After 6 hours , results unchanged.
Etecs 4th & 7th. 1st Class 1 is 21st. The only Merc 4stroke is a 60hp in class 1 currently 29th overall. Best Opti is 2th.

Yeah there are major glitches on the stats. Looks like the Etecs are 2nd & 3rd !!!
The first place is a screw up with 2264 laps on the 8th hour but the stats were also wrong after the 7th hour .... :eek:
Don't know about the Etecs but it could be driver changes, refueling and/or telemetry problems that are causing the Etecs to go back.

One E-tec had a 19 lap at hour 2, and one had an 18 lap at hour 5. When I was there, that usually meant a trip to the trailer. Crain out, load trailer. push by hand back to the pit. All that before you could even touch the motor or boat.

Any idea how often they're fueling?

Looks like they got it sorted out. 1-2 at hour eight. :eek:

Great pics Phil. The distance shots are excellent. 250,000 people watching a boat race, that is awesome. Wish we had turnout like that over here for a boat race. Great to see Evinrude back in there to give Mercury some competition. Seems the E-Tec's made a shocking first impression! Maybe this will give Mercury some incentive to stop abusing their performance outboard customers.

1) They must fit in the displacement limits of the class

2) They must be a homologated, production complete engine with I believe a minimun of 25 built per year. No one-off trick race parts or modification of the homologated block,heads,etc..

So you should be able to buy the motor that won the race down at your local dealer.:rolleyes:

all we want is fixable under our shade trees the friday before the weekend, when we find something wrong , with minimal tooling and basic skills and a REASONABLY high RPM... 7100 werks for 99% of the people out there (200XS-2.5XS 300X ect...)

green is fine as long as it fits with that criteria... and doesnt weigh a ton...

All I can say is awesome!!!!!!!!Those powerheads were completely stock. I was concerned about lower unit longetivety but those boys did thier work very well! congrats to all involved!

The gearcases don't look anything like a stock one so what would be the problem with them? Why dont they have to use stock cases?

Merc ran 20"mid with stock gearcase in 1997 with the first Optis because thats all they had homologated.;) Drivers weren't to happy with the stearing torque.:eek: Came in 4th and 5th overall.
