polished vs satin props?????

Can someone tell me what the advantages are for polished vs satin finish on props?
I have heard both sides of this story and would like to hear from someone really in the know on this.
Some say smooth polished surface reduces the risk of cracking but the satin scotchbrite type finish makes for faster props.
And others say the better the polish the faster the prop.
Who can put these questions to rest for certain?????

All Merc lab props, that I have seen, are satin!

dah propeller states that it doesn't make a difference but the advantage of the polished prop is that you can spot a crack immediately
