Went out to put the new solid mounts on the 1750 tonight. Figured I'd change the bottom ones first. Found out that the bolts won't come out until the top mounts were undone. I removed 4 nuts and 3 bolts to separate the powerhead. Put the cherry picker on the lifting ring and lifted.
Once the trailer tires were off the ground I figured I had missed a bolt so here I am asking for help before I do something stupid. Is the gasket stuck tight? Did I miss a bolt? I am assuming that once it is apart I will need a new gasket or is silicone O.K.? I need help!!!!!!!
Thanks

Hey Nelsoncat. I just did my upper solid mounts on my 1750 before last fall. Obviosly your missing a nut or something. Not sure which one but here's a pic of the powerhead after it was pulled showing the studs.....

Before dropping the powerhead back.....
There are 10 nuts to pull the power head

Are the back 4 and the front 2 bolts? Looks like I have a few more to remove. Did you have to pry it apart or did it separate easily? I think I'll print your picture and go back out to the shop. I'll let ya know when I get it.
Thanks again

Don't I have to go lower to get at the upper mounts? I guess if it is all nuts then I have 3 bolts to screw back in.

This is kind of embarassing; I could rebuild a 466 John Deere or an 855 Cummins with my eyes closed; for some reason I am getting brain farts with outboards; gotta love em though!!!!!!

Yup, 10 nuts if I recall. I was warned before doing mine that if the motor spent much time in salt water it could be a bear to pull apart. Mine came apart no problem. We didn't even have a hoist.

One more thing. Make sure they order you the correct gaskets. As you can see the older 1750 had the larger exhaust openings. They do list the proper numbers on their computers. Just don't let 'em order the 2.4 gaskets like they did for me at first.

I guess that the nuts I missed were the ones I was hoping I didn't have to take off. Now I feel like an expert. Thats a great idea turning around the bottom bolts. I need to get gaskets and roloc discs to clean up the old gaskets so it won't get together until next week. Then I can pull the motor to install the transom plates and the Bobs hydrojack so be prepared for more questions. Thanks again!!!!!!!
