One of the members of the ACBS down here has a 1901 launch with a variable pitch prop that also reverses!!

There was a good show on the history channel about Torpedos. One of them used dual variable pitch props to maintan torpedo speed, since it was powered by a flywheel! Can't remember but this was earlier than the 20th century. 1880s?
