Memorial Weekend on the Chattahoochee

This will be the first of three Chattahoochee/Sneads Gatherings. The dates are May 27-29. We have some of the best 1/4 mile racing there is and you can run longer than that if thats what you like. We have plenty of room on the sandbar for a lot of boats. Has always been a great time in the past. I think the Bama Gang can vouch for that as good as anybody. Hope all the regulars and a lot of new faces show up this year. See ya'll then.

If you like 1/4 mile (which I know ya do) this is the place to be. True 1/4 mile marked off and run what you brung till the sun goes down. The sandbar is located down river about 8-10 miles from where the ODBA event is held. You won't find a better group of people either. Come join the fun. Info:

Directions from I-10
Take Chattahoochee Exit. Turn LEFT (from Sneads, Grand Ridge area), turn RIGHT (from Tallahassee area) onto Flat Creek Highway (CR 270-A). Continue approximately 1 & 2/10 miles. At stop sign, turn RIGHT onto Bonnie Hill Road. Continue approximately 6 & 3/10 miles until red light. At red light (in Chattahoochee), turn LEFT onto Hwy 90W. Go approximately 1/2 mile, turning LEFT onto River Landing Road by Hardees. Boat Ramp straight ahead.

Directions from Sneads
Continue through Sneads towards Chattahoochee on Hwy 90. Immediately after crossing over bridge, Hardees will be on your RIGHT and then turn RIGHT onto River Landing Road. Boat Ramp straight ahead.

SANDBAR LOCATION - 10 miles down river from Chattahoochee Landing. Sandbar on left. (Can't miss it!!!!)

In addition to that ramp there is another one that will put you in the river apx 1.5mi from the sandbar. If you are on hwy 90 west cross the river go past the Dairy Queen and start looking for a sign for interstate 10. The sign will be on your right if you are going west. Turn left at the caution light. Go over the interstate, its apx. 3mi. You will eventuality come to a stop sign. You will have to go left or right. Turn left, look for a small store at the first cross road you come to. Turn left it will be a newly paved road that will dead end at the ramp. Go up river, or to the left, around the bend will be the place.

There's a Holiday Inn in Quincy right off of I-10. When you leave the river you would get on the interstate and head East, not exactly sure on exact mileage from boat ramps. Itchy and Big B stayed there a few weeks ago, maybe they can give some input on it. I personally have never stayed there.
The number to the hotel is 850-875-2500, there shouldn't be any problem getting rooms there, will have to find out prices.

I know ther are a bunch of you guys that will see this so here's my soap box speech.

There is going to be an ODBA race in your back yard.

There's a pile of people around this Chattahoochee / Smiths Bend area with some very competative boats. This is the very best chance you will get to get off the sand bar and put your rig up against some of the quickest out there. This is one of the safest ways to find out where your rig stacks up in a real race situation with a real racers. You can change props ,engine heights, set back , weight placement and countless other tricks and tries. BUT!!!! there is no better way to test the final results of your blood sweat and tears than to get out there beside someone else's boat that is the same weight with the same fuel and the same basic advantages or dis-advantages.
It will all boil down to who wants it worst.


I guarantee that there is something learned on every pass you make but, above all . This does;nt happen every week end. Don't be scared . You only live once and this race happening in your own back yard is a sign from above that this is your chance to cut your teeth in a sanctioned pro race.

You'll LOVE THIS S***.. and it gives everybody a fair chance.

So I am personally challenging all of you sand bar girls to come out.

I know it takes a little money but , Its not like your gonna do it every weekend. I think there will be a class to fit just about everything around here. You may have to change a little here and there to get with the rules depending on what class your like. I think you would be suprised at what you can learn at these things. There is alot of little things out there that will help just about everyone if ya'll are willing to share the knowledge. You learn where your setup is working and where it needs some attention. As far as weight is concerned, you more than likely aint gonna be puttin 300 lbs. in the boat. I'm lucky to be fat I guess. I've never had to worry to much about bein light. What ever you pick up with the heavier setup will be a hell of kick without the lbs. in the boat with just a little adjustment.

I just thought it was a great time to get your feet wet so to speak with this race being so close.

Looks like I might be bringing the Pontoon Boat again, I'm still without a lower unit for the "Absolut Stress" Had to find a drive shaft (thanks Gary McIntosh for your help) I made the mistake of having B&G Marine in Dothan tear it apart, they said they would change the shaft out for me for $150, well they found a chutch worn I agreed for them to put a used one they had in great shape $75.00 then they took their time putting it together 3 weeks, when I went to pick it up they said they had to put a prop shaft in it because they couldn't get old clutch off the original one $150.00 part that they didn't call about to see if I might have one since between me and Itchy we have FUBARED our share of lowers. They called and said it was ready I went to pick it up friday and the bill was like this. 1 used clutch $75 !/2 price,1 Used prop shaft $150 less than 1/2 price, 2 815565 seals $32.90, 1 31534 0-ring $3.40, 4 hrs. Labor $240.00 (originally the cost was quoted at $150.00) l/u oil $10.00. tax $20.90 Grand total $532.20 :mad: Since I had my "SCREW ME TODAY" t-shirt on, I merely paid the bill and chaulked it up as a lesson in life. Well now is the good part, when I arrived home with the unit to put it on the boat looking foward to hearing the old 2.5 scream out on the river, I looked in the truck to find that ALL the $10 l/u oil was on the floor of my truck (not in the lower unit) & the prop shaft would move up and down 1/8 in. I called Billy Moore at home 5:30 pm friday (left voice message to please return my call I left both my home # and cell#) as of this time he hasn't shown the decency to do so. So guys please be on stand by I might need bail money :eek: about 8:00 am tomarrow, when I take this oil leaking SOB back and voice my opionion on their ability to repair a lower unit. So everyone BEWARE of the boys at B&G Marine. See ya'll at the river even if I have to rent a canoe.
