Hello fellow members! Newbie here so I'd like to contribute something. :) If you have a Dollar Tree store near you, they sell a cleaner called Awsome and it really holds to its name. You just spray it on, let it sit for about one minute (you can actually see it bringing out the grime), and wipe off with a damp rag. Works great on that deep grime in seats and wont harm them. As some of you know, cleaners with bleach in them will eat away the stitching in seats.
Works great about anywhere else on a boat or around the house and wont damage anything. Sells for about 1.50 a bottle. The first time I used it, I went back and bought 5 more bottles as it sells out alot at my store.

Try the Mr Clean Magic Eraser on seat vinyl, it will make a believer out of you. It uses NO chemicals whatsoever, just water, and it really does work! If it takes away any shine, just rub the area with a dry cloth after it dries and it will look like new.

Awesome is pretty good stuff for the money, I won't take that away from you.

But for boat seats, Pyro is on the money:

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It uses no chemicals (which is very good for the vinyl), just water. It's like a sponge. The material of the spounge is specially designed to get in all the grooves. I thought my seats were clean, I hit them with the Magic Eraser and they came out a bright white I could not believe!

Can it get the worst mildew stains out? When I got my boat it looked like this guy missed an entire spot and almost never cleaned it. I have red seats so hopefully it will really shine up.
(i know its an old post)

Last Spring I bought some cleaner on line called DCS. It will clean just about anything. Took mildew off some spots on my swim pad that other cleaners wouldn't touch.

I just used the magic eraser on my seats and it got the mildew off. The more you use it the better it works. It really is like magic.

Yes , it does have chemicals in the magic eraser. found it on thier web site. All types of stuff ya cant pronounce. Sounds like it works good, but its not just water, and magic spounge doing the work.

here ya go,

MR. CLEAN MAGIC ERASER is made by using a variety of chemicals. It contains several kinds of alcohols, glycerine, fatty acids, methyl esters, serfose and tertiary amines. WOW! THAT’S A MOUTHFUL. What the heck did I just day?

The tertiary amines (ammonium salts), Sefose (fatty acids, iodine and peroxide), Methyl Esters (bromo carboxific acids) fatty acids, glycerine and alcohols are blended with just the right proportions to create a cleaning solution that doesn’t require much moisture, but holds together long enough to produce thorough and complete cleaning AND slowly disintegrates without leaving a mess.

Unfortunately, the mixture of these chemicals makes the eraser not fit for every kind of surface. It can actually scratch or remove the paint on certain kinds of finishes.

most household stores carry it and yes it gets out the mildew. take a pic before and then one afterwards. we usually go threw the boats twice a year with it.

MAGIC ERASER to the rescue I will say since there was a lack of clean water I sparyed some windex on the hit them and holy Crap whites are white and the reds red again!!! I just wiped them with a clean towel to dry and clean up any left behind dirt!!!

So back to the top with this great idea!!!!

The magic erasers are great. I use one all the time on that pesky scum line left behind on the hull and also my interior.

And if the magic eraser doesn't quite cut it by itself it they work even better when used with a spary cleaner, like Spray Nine, etc. ;)

I used ''Awsome'' from the Dollar Tree to get the black streaks off my gutters. All I can say is it works GREAT....my gutters look NEW again. It only took 4 bottles to clean all my gutters and down spouts.

You see the key is the brush. You spray on a bit give it a quick brush and wipe away. I swear by that stuff. It's the only thing that will pull the oil off the garage floor too.

It will only lift dirt out of textures that are coarser than the brush bristles. Nothing is smaller or finer than the surface of the Eraser. I get steering cable grease stains out of my 20 year old seat vinyl using a Magic Eraser and plain water. After it dries, a quick buff with a dry towel brings back the shine without any damaging chemical agents.

I'll have to try the awesome stuff sometime.

Try Awesome as a pre-treatement on greasy laundry stains, too. It does the job. I've used the eraser on my boat and bike seats with good luck. I will try the Awesome next to see how it compares.

Guys I am simply looking to clean my seats and get the white " white " again, and it sounds like the majic eraser is the shizzit but I want to warn you about the Ausome, I used to use it to clean my white haulmark car trailer all the time and it always seemed to do a good job but after using it several times it seems the citric acids started to wash the paint off, and now it looks like shizzit and needs paint.

Guess I'm bringing back an old tread but I've got some serious mildew issues with the vinyl on my interior. I've used a bunch of products, including the magic eraser. Some work better than others. Is it just a matter of using a whole bunch of magic erasers on one seat? I used one and it helped but there was still significant mildew stains. I'd hate to have to re-uppolster my boat just because of mildew stains. If I have to buy a case of magic erasers to get the seats clean again, I will.

The red seats on my PWCs turn black from sitting under covers all Winter long on the back patio. It takes several boxes of Magic Erasers to make a dent in the stains, but nothing else works. Sometimes I will combine some bleach with the magic erasers since the seats have no stiching in them. Don't use chlorine on boat seats or your boat cover, I found out when my Factory Allison cover pulled apart on the way down to the Keys.....

Silicones,UV, suntan lotion and body oil [from sweat] do too. Once the natural oils are gone from the vinyl, they become brittle.

Thanks JR. That's exactly my problem. The boat cover wasn't vented enough and the seats got nasty mold/mildew stains. I guess I'll just have to stock up on the magic erasers.

One thing that worked for me was soft scrub gel with bleach, used WITH a magic erasor. since it is a gel you can get it just on the stain, and not all over the stitching etc. I Do suggest a vinyl treatment afterwards though.

I'll give it a shot. The funny thing is the material and stitching are still in excellent shape, it's just mildew-y.
