I bought this motor as a fresh (professional) rebuild. I'm almost finished rigging and have a question about some masking tape on top that says "Set timing and Check brain". Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like when the motor was rebuilt they only did a cranking spark advance check. You need to get it wet to check wot advance. As far as the brain note, it has been Rapaired so make sure if it's an A6 box not to run it too much in the midrange rpm's as it will lean-out. At least thats me best guess! Looks like you have a hot motor, enjoy!
I often stick notes on the motors I build to avoid a fatal error. It most likely means set the max advance and EFI mixture before running.

Can you explain the procedure to preform thoughs checks.
Thanks Again:confused:
1. Use a dial indicator and spark plug adapter to find .150 BTDC and mark the flywheel at the timing pointer.
2. Remove and ground all spark plugs.
3. With timing light on #1 crank the motor over with the throttle wide open. Adjust timing to fire on the mark you made on the flywheel.
The ECU should be set to the rich side for break-in. With out an ECU tester you will only be guessing but I would turn it 2 turns counter clockwise if it’s an analog box. This will make it very rich but at least it won’t burn up. If it’s too rich to run well turn it back ¼ turn at a time.
