Any tips for a photo retard on taking good pics of a metalflake boat? If I take it in the sun, it looks to be full of gold highlights. If I take it on a cloudy day, the color looks dull.
I imagine my simple camera ain't helping this (Fugi Finepix 2600 zoom).
My signature photo is a good example of a sunny day photo. The boat is all apricot flake.

you may want to invest in a circular filter. it screws on the end of the lens and reduces glear. if you have ever taken a picture thur a window and seen the glear in the picture. this is what the filter will eliminate and should help your boat picture problem.

Either a polarizer or a neutral density filter should work well on sunny days.

Two questions, is he coming to the Romp this year, and do I have to wear my hat backwards?:D

David, I actually took those pics with a point-and-shoot camera. Would have been much, much better if I had my good equipment there.

I hope to make it to the Romp this year...

get a vacuum sander filter. its a 5 gallon bucket half full of water. you connect it to a shop vacumm and the other end to a dry sander pad [with sandin up] this connection at the bucket goes under the water. end effect is no dust.

Hey Pete -

If Trikki doesn't manage to drag Greg, make sure you find me and I'll do my best to get a good shot.
