Has anyone out there done any experimenting with the mad efi systems available for OMC's? Is this system beneficial for the weekend racer, or just for the hard-core drag guys? Just curious. Getting tired of the carbs.

I have heard of lots of people who love it. They say that the MAD EFI system quickly pays back its cost because you don't need to buy new pistons all the time.

MAD EFI is very user friendly. Not a low cost set up, but worth every penny. If you are serious about making RELIABLE power with an OMC, it is the way to go.

Thanks for the info. I know it's not cheap, but I'd like to beef up my 200 looper without doing a lot of porting and raising the compression too high. Any other information would be appreciated.

You can run good porting and more compession (within limits) with a good EFI and have long engine life. Its a pretty dramatic difference.

due to the electronics and all the controlls EFI offers you can get away wth more porting and not loose your bottom end to badly and use a good solid 92 octain compression ratio with out the worry of baking her down as you could do with carbs

Awesome. That's good to know. My engine has been mildly ported by Monty already. One of my significant concerns was the ability to use 93 octane pump gas. Thanks again.

Dave,
Talk to Greg Dunum he has the mad efi system and has had it for a while. I think he had it on the hst also.

Bobby, I have no idea why your dad isn't running one on his STV. He could have bought one instead of that outrageous msd ignition and just went with a Yamaha ignition. Isn't that what you are using Greg? From what I have heard that boat is running as strong or stronger than anyone.
