It was simple amazing how much better my motor ran over the weekend with NGK vs. the Champions. More power and less blue smoke bellowing past me, with a faster start too. Jay Smith, if you read this, your right, I wouldn't put Champions in my lawn mower either after this weekend. My recommendation to everyone is don't wait, swap the crap for the best.

I learned long ago... Champions suck! I don't use them in anything, ever!

I would never put a champion in anything as well. when you can feel the diference in the seat of your pants for less than $20, thats worth it at twice the price. I prefer the BU8H's in me mota. And I love them fresh! water pumps too. mmmm fresh!:)

I think you and I suffer from the same sickness.
New items for the motors are nice, Faster is better, mmmm faster. My girlfriend thinks I'm deeply troubled, what does she know. LOL

bought a rebuild 90 , new 85, and 115 all with champion plugs. needless to say all motors had 1-3 bad plugs and would not go beyond 1/2 power. you'll never get me to use champions ever.

Those things are useless. Had the electrode tip fall out of one once. I'll drive miles out of my way to get NGK's just so I don't have to use them.

I've been running the QL77cc's in my 250XB. What is the exact NGK replacement part number in full?
Here you go.
Best plug ever. Denso IWF27
Good plugs, Desno W27FSR, or NGK BZ7HS-10

is awesome, but the NGK BR8HIX and BR9HIX are just as good at 1/2 the price. Same iridium center. I believe the 24 Denso is the #8 NGK and the 27 is the #9. Either will replace the QL77. The #8 and the 24 are a tad hotter.
Yup, Run the Br9hix's also. I find the Denso lasts a lot longer.
That being said, I also don't mind the Champion QL77JC4.... I use them to break them in.

Interesting, never run very many hours on mine but I will have to keep that in mind RBT on the life expectancy. The Denso sure is a nice looking pc. Top shelf for sure. Theoretically I guess the electrode is a bit tinier too so it should foul less than the NGK iridium. Are you still running the stock blue wires ?

OK I already agree the NGKs are better. Now tell me the correct Champion to NGK cross,I've heard five different answers and want to be right when I change them.

Sorry,
They are for a 99 300PM.
Is there any improvments in switching from the stock Merc wires? With EFI they would need to be suppression type cores but is there a wire that has less resistance than the merc wires without effecting electronics?

The Magnecor are the cadillac of plug wires. RBT did his homework on the plugs and wires. We run the 10mm as well and we sell the 8.5mm and 10mm sets for Merc , Yamaha and OMC. Merc NGK are like 6.5mm or maybe 7mm. And the NGK are stainless solid core. Not a good rf suppressor. The Magnecor are excellent RF suppression heli wound and they are the wires everyone else has copied. Taylor has more colors if you want pretty. We carry them as well, so does Diamond Marine. But the Magnecor are made far better than the NGK wires and worth the extra. So RBT have you tricked out your wires from your coils to the switch boxes yet? Email me and I'll give you a couple more cool mods. :D
HAHA, Steve.....maybe
Shoot me an e-mail and we can compare...........

Well it seems the votes are in and NGK is the winner but what about these Denso's?? I've never heard of them, are they a race aplication plug?? I just want get a season out of a set of plugs, I'm not looking for more than that.
VM,
As for the tip of a Champion plug going into your cyclinder, I can only imagine the problems that could have caused.

Does anyone know why the Champions are so bad? What's the main difference btween the champions and the NGK's?
Thanks

It's hard to say why exactly. The design is different some how though. They foul more and corode faster. Maybe the grade of material isn't as good.
I am just guessing though.

Yes champion suck!! I found this out about 15 years ago in all my two stroke atvs! They would not last one day and they would foul out. Same heat range as a NGK, but the NGK would last for ever!!!

BR8HS NGK's for me . They are the direct cross for the QL77CC and a helluva lot cheaper. Get them at Advance Auto anytime.
