I am assuming you have windows:

1. Click the Start menu button on the Windows taskbar (bottom left corner of the screen).

2. Click Run... on this menu.

3. Type cmd in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop.

4. In this command window, type ipconfig /all (all one word no spaces). Details are shown for each of the computer's network adapters, ip address etc.

close the box when done.

just realized you can just type ipconfig if all you want is the IP address.

also if you have windows 98 , windows ME or older you can type winipcfg in the run line, or in XP click my network places, to network connectioons, select your network connection, wired ethernet, dialup modem, or wirless. and look at the details displayed on the left hand lower corner..

that is only dial in DSL most cable or constant on DSL is fairly static mine hasnt changed in 3 years.. to change IPs you have to be disconected from the network for a period of 7 days constantly without ANY activity from your broadband or dial up modem.. before you loose your IP rented ###
