The big boat ban for certain Alabama lakes was passed in the House of Representatives today. This is not a good precedent for everyone down the road.

"Rep. Randy Wood, R-Anniston, said he voted in favor of the bill because Logan Martin was excluded in the legislation.
"Everyone (at Logan Martin) stated they didn’t have a problem with the bill, as long as it didn’t include them," Wood said. "All the people who wanted it, got it, and the people who didn’t, didn’t."
wouldn’t this make it easier to put future bans into law? seems the people of logan did not think this through. all of this to make the developers from GA. happy.

Here's another link to a shorter but more revealing story from WSFA news in Montgomery.

"Backers say the bill would protect water quality, reduce noise, and keep the lakes from becoming as crowded as Lake Lanier near Atlanta."
What a crock of ****e! Last time I was on one of these lakes the bass boats had it so wrapped up with all the tournaments they were having you could'nt even park at the ramps.....And I'm sorry this may piss a couple of ya off but the tourny bassers have no respect what so ever.

JustMercMe, them Atlanta boys been feddin folks from Chambers to Houston County their chit for 30 years. If this thing was a water quality issue then Senator Dial and Rep Laird would be pushing this issue with the EPA and others for the citizens of east and southeast Alabama. Atlanta pays fines but it's much cheaper to pay the fines than to fix the problem. You guys need to come up with some property for Dial and Laird to develop and maybe they will help you clean up the Chatt.

It's absolutely Amazing that the house of representatives has time to pursue this big boat ban/exclusive community development issue, but the US Justice department is prosecuting them now because they still have not passed a law that will allow deployed Alabama soldiers to vote in a timely manner. Did I mention that the sponsor of the big boat ban legislation is the kingpin of the senate military affairs committee and also a benefactor of the proposed exclusive community real estate development???
