Get 6" of setback, and a 30" big ear chopper. You could also go with a cleaver, but you won't be able to have weight in the boat.:) Chuck.

I used to have a similar set up. 6" Bob's is good, I ran a 28 Mazco with a 1:87 Sportmaster. A 30 chopper may work. Trial and error. You need to turn that motor up on the rpms. I wouldn't run anything but a Sportmaster. Tony

Knotdream, I had the same prop you have (chopper) they like those props. For me it was a great all around prop. You can always try a 30. I'm talking from my experience with my set up. Make sure you run a Sportmaster especially because you will be jacking it up. The boat is hard on Skegs. Fun boat with a 280. Tony

a 2:1v sporty will need atleast 32P may need 34 to hold back a 280.. I know that hull and power combo is good for 100+ buddy has one and he just touches the century mark with full fuel.. GPS bounces fron 99.99 to 100.1.. if i recall he is running a 28P chopper but has ran up to a 32P...

I am picking up a new Trick Powerboat Cat next weekend and we are mounting a 05 leftover 300X motor on a Staineless Marine Gorilla jack plate and we are going to start with a Mazco 30". Boat is coming in at 1200 lbs unrigged
