Yes, that's a real 2.5 Merc EFI shoehorned into this Polaris.
DeWayne Ogden who is a long time truck pulling champion, believes anything can be improved with more horsepower! He's got just that with a Merc V6 built by Larry Mumford of Outboard Performance.
Look close and you'll see that the motor has to lay on its side to fit under the seat. Besides adding more power, the addition of a Brucato SVS also helped solve some clearance problems. Power is transmitted to the stock pump through a gilmer belt drive.
If the sharp looking graphics don't give this rocket ship away, The unmistakable rumble of the monster Merc puts all other water rats on alert.
The acceleration of this water toy has to be seen to be believed.
DeWayne says top speed is whatever it takes to be in front!

im a 14 year mechanic on the watercraft and even work for ijsba pro race teams , yes power is nice but jet skis have their limits due to the size of the pump out back , id really like to now more aboutthat 2.5 polaris that does look sick

Just double click on the photos!
He has overdriven the pump.
Wow!
He could be turning that pump 15,000 RPM plus!

im not sure what you mean over driven pump does it mean not using stock pump ?? well that would be anoter thing the pump acts as a blender and will cavitate after certain rpms and will not recover till the pump refilled w water and slowing the speed of the pump up . jet boat guys would know this . im just interested im not arguing i think it would be an intersting thread

I would sooner think that pulley is to reduce the rpms to the pump. Some of the jet ski manufacturers have done something similar to reduce rpms to the pump when they put their crotch rocket motors in them.

He has a bigger pully on the engine with belt drive.
Looks like 2 to 1
He is spinning the pump more rpm than the engine.
OVERDRIVE!!!
