Maureen and I headed over to the FBI races at Crescent City to watch some racing and we had a front-row view of Noah Legear of Eagle One Performance Products (http://www.eagleoneperformance.com) kick some serious ass in Mod-U. Congratulations, Noah! Results should be posted soon on the FBI website (http://www.fastboatsinc.com).

Greg, I hadn't seen this post when I got your E-mail today. Heck I was so tired I couldn't think anyway. The photos are great. I can see I drove a little conservatively, but I don't heal as well as you young guys!!!!!!! I just got some lucky breaks and a lot of help from a lot of people. I swear Jeff Reno made his boat swell up to nearly 20 feet wide cause I thought my screw up on the start was gonna cost me the race. He didn't cut me any slack. I guess that's what I get for doing him that way occaisionally. I do like that guy, he's a hell of a driver and just makes racing fun whether you're in front of him or behind him and I've been both!!!! Other than the wind and the blowovers, it was a great weekend. I remember Parker Rabe walking up and speaking to me but I was so caught up in the race I didn't get to say much so I apologize for it. I was just really busy. I made a statement a while back that if I won a race I'd shave off my mustache. I've had it since my first blowover in 1970, grew it in the hospital. 35 years with a hairy upper lip, sure does feel strange!!!!!!! The weekends kind of a blurr. Just haven't gotten down off that adrenaline high yet. It seemed that everybody involved in this race was just overly friendly and helpful. I guess I was just due. I told Jim Hunt that when you win it never seems like you did enough to deserve it and when you lose you always think you worked your butt off for nothing. He said he's always felt the same way but it's because your not as jubilant when you win as you are upset when you lose!! It was just my turn to have a good weekend. Lord knows I've had some bad ones too. I bet Bruce Washburn still hasn't figured out how I gave him the flu over the phone!!!!! Just happy about the entire weekend. Anybody that tries to tell you it's not whether you win or lose but how you ran the race just simply hasn't won one yet!!!!!!!! Just great to be around so many people that aren't like me, Ron Baker and Fred miller....old and grouchy!!!!! Seriously The people that put this on deserve all the credit. They made it all happen. See ya' at the next race!
