Block Decking

Just wondering if and what would happen if block was decked so pistons extended from bore, and heads relieved for clearance. Wouldnt this increase port timing??

Block deck height has NOTHING to do with port timing. Many people measure port timing from the deck surface. If a block has been decked, it would make the reading different from one that hadn't, although the port timing is EXACTLY THE SAME. The most accurate way to measure port timing is in degrees from TDC with a degree wheel. That takes the guesswork out of the deck height. If the exhaust port begins to open at 34º after TDC, it doesn't matter if the piston is hangin' a quarter inch out the top or a quarter inch down in the bore, the port timing is the same and TDC is the same.
