I've been trying to buy two sets of Alien Cowls from them. I am trying to get them without the FUGGLY bungees on them(I want to use something different). And I have had nothing but a bad attitude from everyone I dealt with in the company from the ordering person, all the way up to management. People blowing me off, not returning phone calls or emails and giving me a snotty attitude when I ask for something different then what they have in stock. This has me pissed off. They supposedly make a good copy of the factory cowls and I would still like to get them, but if this is how I am going to be treated I"ll wait for some factory cowls to pop up and buy them. Has anybody else had problems with this company.
THEY SUCK !!!!!!!! :( :( :( :(

IS CUSTOMER SERVICE DEAD!!!!!!!!!

Well first off they dont make them they contract them out.Secondly the people who answer the phones and take orders are the manangement /owners.Thirdly I have never had any problems dealing with them other than a somewhat crappy paint job on the coned cases unlike in the past when they came back hi gloss and I have dealt with them for many years. You probably gave them a slight attitude and now they could care less.To start this thread saying they SUCK because they didnt redesign their cowl latchs for you is a little harsh.

You need to just spend the doe on a factory used cowl.Usualy going for $ 600 to $700.

Good luck.Rob

The rumor that Bob Icenogle---BOB!--- sold the company is NO RUMOR!! Bob sold the company about two years ago but stayed on as a consultant for a additional year. When Bob left along with him went much of the prior customer service. As far as the cowlings he sold, they were a half way decent copy--as copies go--but not nearly the quality of a factory job. I'll say this, if Jack Barsh is building them, they will be better than factory! I'd call Jack!

I have owned every after cowl out there except one from Jack Barsh but I have seen them though. I will say this ,YES they are by far the nicest fiberglass cowl being made.

As far as you all's complaints about Bobs.Maybe I have better service because I go there and buy directly from them.Allways a good experience from them here.Pretty good prices too.

Hot Shot Merc,
I am not happy with the way I was being treated. I heard they have a good product, and I would still like to buy two sets from them. I am not expecting them to redesign anything, All I want is for them to make a phone call to their supplier requesting two sets of cowls without the bungee holes drilled. The manager said she would call the supplier, but she never returned my call at all. I take that as being rude. And this is after a lot of other BS I had to put up with from the people under her first.

I think they recently moved, might be experiencing some pains from that. I did talk on the phone with them one time and they weren't exactly rude, but it kind of seemed like I was interrupting their day.

I sent one of my lowers to them and they sent it back to me with the oil fill hole totally covered over. I had to send it back and they didn't even say they were sorry and no discount, nothing. I lost almost 3 weeks of boating!

I order a jack plate from them in January. I read on their site that they were moving so I expected delays. When February 12th rolled around I was a little concerned because I was leaving the country for 5 months on the 14th. I called the service dept. and was treated very well. She mentioned a mishap and a possible backorder at the time of my order. She had to call me back once or twice, but things worked out well and the plate was shipped to the shop I work at a week later.

I was planning on having them install a cone on my Yamaha, but these stories are starting to give me second thoughts...

I tried buying some stuff from them. The attitude sucks. I rather spend extra time and / or money buying from someone else. I would not be surprised if the go out of business. That's what happens when the original proud owners sell a comprany. Oh well.

I recently had a similar experience when I tried to buy a jackplate from them. The woman was kinda snotty about the backorder status, and when I said I would get back with them, she just said "Whatever...." Like she didn't want or need my money at all...

That's cool, I'll spend it somewhere else. I was going to buy a jackplate from them, but I called Jack at Full Throttle, and he's putting one together for me.

yeah, i didn't have much of choice. Their "ultra-light" hydraulic model is exactly what I needed.

I think you guys have convinced me, so instead of Bob's, who should do my nosecone?

Nevemind guys, just saw another post of the same subject.

But, has anyone had a cone installed from Bob's lately? If you did, how was the experience?

Apparently Bob's has fallen into the Land And Sea trap?

My vote goes to Titus. Nobody else can do it like this.
