View Full Version : A Tribute Video to the F14 TOMCAT.
It's hard to believe the F14 is not flying in the US Navy, anymore. It was a truly awsome plane over a 35 yr history. I would have loved to have flown one. I'm sure the F22 is a more modern a/c but the TomCat will always be one of the coolest US fighters!!!!

The video is a little grainy but good footage. Check out the tail insignias from the different 14 squadrons who flew the TomCat.

Immortalized by "Top Gun" forever...
That plane saved us a whole lot of headaches in the heart of the cold war. The Russians were never comfortable head to head with one
I love watching it on the History channel:cool:

The 14 was a NAVY aircraft, and a very cool one... The coolest high speed fly by that I ever saw was a 14 going 700 mph at about 300' elevation with the wings swept back and that bad ass cloud that forms on the rear half of the plane at that speed... I was about 10 years old at my home town air show, and I'll never forget it...

Do ya'll remember the movie " The Final Countdown " where the the F-14's got accidentally transported back in time and had a run in with WWII Jap Zero's... I know it was fiction, but is was kick a$$....
Nice, flying a jet fighter must be the biggest rush in the world. Good to see how well my tax dollars were, and are, spent. A friends son, was a liberal at the time, was in NYC during the 9-11 attack. While he was making his way home, on foot, he saw the fighter jets patroling the city. When he got home he told his dad how the site the our fighter jets made him feel proud and strong. He's no longer a liberal.

I don't wanna burst your bubble, but the F-14 never flew in the Air Force. Navy and Marines only as it was a carriar bird. The Air Force flew F-15s and F-16s.

We have a group of F-16's from Macintire Air National Guard station fly over about every other week. We are out in the country so they will fly extremely low over the shop. They will buzz us at about 4-500 feet and all I can say is it's the most impressive thing I ever seen. They will fly in a wide circular pattern a few times and then buzz right over us pretty low before pitching upwards and checking out. Man what a rush. Unbelievable sound. Probably the most awesome display of power I have ever seen. They seem to come out of nowhere and then they are right on top of you for a split second and then gone............................
Yeah, I had a brain fart, SportJ. Every drunken Naval aviator on shore leave will be hunting me down for such an insult!!
Here is a cool and informative set of pixs of the B-2 Spirit:
