That looks like a capsule jacket.

The bad news is that capsule jackets have almost no flotation because rescue divers don't want to have to fight to get an unconscious guy out of his cockpit when the boat is upsidedown.

Since the capsule itself is supposed to provide your impact protection, there is none built into a capsule jacket -- you aren't going to be protected from any blunt forces.

The capsule jacket is less protection than a ski vest. The only thing it provides for non-capsuled drivers is a bright orange color, so divers can find you underwater quickly. It should never be used for non-capsule racing. You are better off with a regular ski-vest -- at least that has flotation. For your own safety, please, please ditch that capsule suit.

Also, the jumpsuit-type makes it easier for the rescue divers to grab the shoulder straps and YANK if they need to get you out of the capsule -- and that way the jacket wont slide up.

Your boat is beautiful ! But we sure don't want to lose you!
