1150 got a gost

I worked at Sea Jays Marine a few summers ago. Times were tuff friend owned the shop so on and so forth....to the problem this motor came in a the customer said that he was running about 3/4 throttle and it started to bogg down. This was the first time out for the season. So we thought that it would be carbs right, nope I went through them 3 times. So I checked the timming and it was fine. Did the ole trick of tapping on the trigger while under load and the firing would start jumping around. So on with the new trigger. Put it in the test tank man that thing would run like a raped ape. Customer took it out and guess what it ran.....for a while. Then it started acting like it was loading up again. So it comes back again. Put it in our test tank running fine but there is a problem some where. So while running started listening while it is running. We could hear a fluttering sound....reeds right well we broke it down and all the cages we in place no bent, broke, cracked reeds. Put everything back together, took it to the lake with the customer and the stupid thing never acted up. It run for the better part of a hour, so we think that every thing is good. One week later "IT" showed up again. Call around to some other shops and they suggested everything that we already tried. So "IT" was shipped out to another shop, no luck there either. So the money was refunded for labor, and the customer said guess it is time for a new motor. Any body got any cluess.
