bought a 1" spacer from jay to bolt on the ole 2.4...lookin for a better hole shot, more midrange.....HOLY CRAP!!!! my hole shot still needs to be dialed in a little more, (its still way better than it was, but theres more there, i know it!) but what a difference in the mid range.......it NEVER pulled this hard, its kinda spooky ....if anyone is looking for a quick (and relatively cheap) bolt on....i give two thumbs up for this one, for me and my application its the cats ass....:D

We are in the process right now of taking everything off of my buddy's 2.4 to install the spacer, and then will install mine on the 2.5. Can't wait to take a run.

Wiley,
Is your motor a EFI or Carb? We are taking apart an EFI right now, and it is kind of a pain in the ass taking all the parts off. It looks like the card model is much easier to install.

mine is carb, the physical installation required very little modification to fit my assembly, the straight up install was easy, just a little filing and tweaking to make it all fit....it is a very well thought out package that jay provides.....

What did you have to file, and fit? Is there any problem with the clam shell cowling fitting with the additional 1"?

Ive got a drop on cowl, no clearance problems there even with velocity stacks. Aparrently merc made several styles of arms to hold the control cables, mine was the style with the over center latch type deal and there were some clearance issues, until my trusty rasp file, some cutters and ty-wraps solved the problem :D
What kind of motor? How well do they work on a typical 2.4 200 EFI like mine? I'm probably getting it re-built soon...

Currently my buddy is putting a spacer on a 1988 2.4 EFI, but we are having some installation problems. Granted we aren't mechanics, and he was drinking whiskey when he tried to reassemble with the spacer. According to Jay @ SST he should see bigger gains than I will on my 1991 2.5 carb. It has to do with the 5 peddle reeds that are on the 2.4, and they are affected more than the 7 peddle I have on the 2.5. Looking back I am glad we chose to work on his first, I am going to label everything to a fault that I take off so as to not have left over parts when I am done.

We fired the motor up this evening, and it sounds great. Can't wait to take her out. The only problem is that the cowling doesn't fit any more. Do you guys have any remedies for the cowling?

Thank you for the feedback and the compliments !
This is why i cant keep these plates on the shelf
usually some one buys a plate then all the friends buy them after.
i know that there are still alot of skeptics, But i think i proved my point!
Thankyou. ALL...Jay @ SST Marine

can this spacer be used on a mostly stock 1993 2.5L 200 and still use the stock cowl?
can i still use the airbox or does that go?

YOU NEED SOMETHING IN FRONT OF THE CARBS
i like velocity stacks....but if your lacking room
there are other options.
Give me a call if you have any questions...Jay
