I am looking for the name and number of the person or shop that

machines Mercury stock reed blocks to 260 specs.I believe they

are in Wisconsin.

I think he just wants to machine the 2.4 style cages and open them to 2.5 size. The company Merc uses to machine the stock cages. ;)

The 2.4 seven petal cages are very prone to cracking. I have a set and all 6 are cracked. If you machine them, that would make them weaker still. It shouldn't be all that hard to find some 260 cages, because lots of people have changed over to the rubber coated cages.

If you are cracking cages, you are probably overtightening them. Thats the #1 reason they crack.

They were cracked when I tore the engine down. They are the early style 2.4 cages used on the old 2.4, 225. I think the later ones used on the bridgeports were made better, but as many of the 260 style ones that are around, I wouldn't set up and machine any. I got about 20 in a box collecting dust. Every time I start hording parts, something better comes along, and I got a bunch of stuff no one runs anymore.

Merc. FIVE petal cages machined. I have plenty seven petal 260 cages.
