THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT SAY THEY RUN 120 , THIS IS GONNA BE THE TIME TO PROVE IT AND THE MIAMI BOYS LOVE TO GET ON THAT RADAR ,I HAVE SEEN ALL OF THEM RUN MID 120S AND KNOW ONE BELIVE ME ... SO LET ME KNOW IF WE CAN SET SOMETHING UP OVER THERE WHERE WE CAN GET SOME ORGANIZATION ON MAKING THIS HAPPEN , I CAN ENSURE YOU IF ITS GONNA BE A ZOO OVER THERE , NO ONE FROM DOWN SOUTH WILL SHOW UP ...

there is no way to guarantee any organization of runs it's an informal get together to hang out do some runs and get to know each other, if they want radar runs, join the apba and go race, this is not a pissing match of speed, it's for casual recreation, a friendly party get together

Sorry, I've been busy in the garage working on Jet Skis during the day and trying to keep the girlfriend happy by going out in the evenings and not spending much time on the computer. Thanks Skip for reminding everyone about the meet. Only 10 days to go. Action 17, did you find out if we will have a band for Saturday night?? I had intended to get a keg of beer for Sat. evening but may get cans or bottles instead....too much hassle trying to load a keg by myself and take it the 60 miles to the lake. If someone local wants to volunteer to pickup a keg, I'll pay for it. I don't know how the Lakeside Inn's owner will take us having our own beer since he sells it there. I had expected to get to the Inn and talk with the owner about it and about the parking situation but havn't yet. Raceboat Rus sent out my flyer with his Radical Reunion stuff, so we can expect a really good turnout. Skater Mike...I think you won't have a problem going under the bridge with the 24. There is about 6 feet clearance. Just don't forget to DUCK !!! Don't want anyone to loose their heads at the meet!! Ianelle, thanks for offering your help. I'm sure we will put it to good use. Any one who has any questions, give me a call 321 722 1884, or shoot me an email

There is plenty of room on the lakes to run top end....as long as everyone uses common sense. If the Miami gang can find good water AND room to run down south, they won't have a problem at our meet. No mega buck cruiser wakes to hit unexpectedly at 100+ on these lakes. Have to watch for birds and gators but after a few warmup passes they clear out. Actually I have never seen a gator in the open water on the Alligator Chain....different story with Lake Washington and the St Johns. There they don't even scare !! Parker, talk your friends into coming up and having a few beers with us.

The dougnut connection is in St. Pete (34St &7th Ave). You don't need to come that far. I'll e-mail you on a place to meet next week.
Don't worry about props, Zeimer and Dan have me covered. The Lund has run 65 with the V6. That's with several problems in the motor. It's in my shop right now being "Rumble-ized" :D I'm lookin for 75mph then. In the mean time, the V4 is my spare. It runs about 50-55 with the V4.

action17,
yes that is the same route (192), you'll pass the fish camp and alligator lake on your left then come all the way into town there will be roughly 5 or 6 stoplights and youll come to VERMONT ave, take a left onto vermont, that changes to canoe creek road but is exactly the same road and about twelve miles down there is an overpass, right after you go over that, at the base of it on the other side is lake cypress fish camp road (dirt road) on the right go down that about a mile or so and the ramp is right there in front of you
Big-D can meet ya around there he said last week so give him a call also
this is for this sunday the 10th of march ;)
big-d and i like the river but if you want to go to gator thats ok with me, theres usually more going on down the kissimmee river though

Yeah 75mph sitting on cooler! Of course it is bolted down  :D That 65mph was with the motor only turning 5200rpm (27" Shooter), so who knows, it may blow past 75. We'll just have to wait and see :D

It turned 5200rpm max with a tiny 19" prop (50mph). I put the 27" wheel on, it turned 5200rpm max (65mph). There seemed to be a 5200 rpm limit in the elctronics somewhere, but if the 27" didn't slow it down a bit, I'll bet there is plenty more to come! :D
One thing for sure, the helmet will be going on after 70mph.

Skip; I plan on going to gator this weekend, Sat or Sun. depending which day looks better weatherwise, to talk with the owner of the Inn. The Meet weekend I'll try to leave as early as possible, but I have the 30+ - pets to feed first. It takes about 1hr 20 min to drive there. Hopfully I will arrive before 11am. A friend from Stuart is supposed to follow with his tunnel rig. Keep us abreast of the possibility of using your friends yard for the party. Only problem may be that a lot of us (me included) don't have running lights on our rigs to get back to the ramp. Gess we could pull out before dark and drive to his place if need be. I have to check on the parking situation at the Inn. I won't leave my boat at some unattended field several miles up the road, unless I sleep in it!!
Action17; Sorry I thought you were the one with the band. I will try to contact Hydrostream Dave. Anyone know his email??

Danny
B.Leonard
03-06-2002, 08:56 PM
Nope. Tried 2 tachs a Faria analog and an OMC digital. Both read the same.
It stopped dead at 5200 just like a limiter kicking in. The boys at Rapair told me their limiters can vary up to 400rpm and that they are not very accurate. The previous owner of the motor said he had Rapair rebuild the packs because he had problems with them.
The 2.6 won't be ready till Memorial Day. I'll have the trusty V4 on for the 16th.

There is a ramp at the motel. Most of those going will put in at that ramp, myself included. We will all meet at the motel on Saturday morning. I'm spending Sat night at the motel. We had intended to use the facilities at the motel for our get together, but it was suggested that we may get together at a house on the lake. Either way, there seems to be enough boats going that both the house and the motel will be pretty busy. I'm going to speak with the owner this weekend. I'm supplying beer for the group. I have to make sure there won't be a problem with this at the motel since we are not buying it there. Looking forward to meeting you Dan.

My girlfriend is on her way to Mexico for the weekend. Her brother is a pilot so she goes for free. I had her take my E Trex GPS with her. I told her to record up to about 140mph on take off, then shut the GPS off. Bet my STV will be the fastest boat at the meet.....Oh ****....I just let the cat out of the bag!!!!
Spoke with Alligator Inn employee today. They are only taking reservations for 2 night stays, I may be sleeping in the boat Sat. night !! I also got the name of the guy who ownes the lot immediately south of the motel. I'm trying get permission to use the lot to park our rigs. Even if we have to pay (hope not) it will be worth it to avoid the aggravation and potential fender benders at the motel where parking is tight since they had a new septic drain field installed where the parking area used to be.

West of Alligator Lake on 192 will take you into St. Cloud. Believe it or not, we got a Publix and an Amoco station and they ain't too far from each other. Only thing that seperates em is a traffic light, a Jiffy store and a Tractor Supply. :D :D
The Publix is on the far west side of St.Cloud on the east bound side of 192, the BPAmoco is on the same side just west of Publix. That should get you and the boat fed. :D

Well guys and girls, I spent the day at Alligator Lake today (Saturday). Hope we have the same perfect weather for next weekend. I spoke with Dan, the Inns owner, to straighten some things out. First, He still insists on only renting rooms for a minimum of 2 nights. That leaves me out. I will be looking to spend Saturday night elsewhere. Second, he does not want "Keg Beer" even after I told him he could get it from his supplier and add on a profit. He said he will give me a discount on canned beer and will come up with some sort of system where tokens will be handed out for the beer. I feel that since I'm paying for it, my money would have gone a lot further with a keg and we would have had more beer to (hic) drink. It is ok for anyone to bring their own hard liquor since he does not sell it. He will be adding more items to his menu for our meet. I had a calsone for lunch there today and it was pretty good. It will be OK to bring our own shrimp and boil them there... (Mr. Fun). There seems to be enough picnic tables to accomodate our group. Third, the band will be a no no, possible neighbor problems. Maybe someone can bring a boom box so we can have music Fourth, Parking problems.....I counted room for about 10 cars with trailers at the motel property. Today there were only 2 other trailers besides mine. So far the owner of the lot next to the Inn has not called me back. I tried to call him again tonight and the answer machine I usually get was a FAX machine...go figure! He has a For Sale sign on the lot, but $92,000 would be a little pricey for a parking spot !!! Dan said we can use property he owns to park at. I checked it out. It's about 2 1/2 miles away. It is several acres, off Lake Lizzi Rd, fenced, grassy, with a trailer and storage building. I think it is safe for our rigs, but what a hassle getting back and forth. I have no answers for this one and am open to suggestions. Maybe the locals could use one of the other area ramps?? I think all those who have never boated Alligator before will be very satisified with the size and water conditions of the lake. Plenty of room for everyone on the water. Just wish there was more room to park our trailers.

Is the only boat ramp near by at the Inn?
What is the fish camp, and does it have a ramp?
Are there any State Parks or any big ramp area?
Thanks,
RULE-1
Way2Fast
03-10-2002, 04:06 PM
To answer your questions....Rule 1, the Alligator Lake Inn is also called a fish camp as they sell bait etc. There are other ramps on the chain, but the best and most convient is at the Inn. One on the opposite side of the lake is county run but has at least a 30 degree slope, better have good brakes. Another one is on one of the other lakes...Trout Lake, but has some rocks around it. I'm with Skater Mike, lets park in the vacant lot next to the Inn. I have tried in good faith to contact the owner, but have not been able to. He lives in south Fl. and would not even know that we are using it to park. No damage would be done as long as we all pickup after ourselves. The lot is about an acre and has more than enough parking space for everyone.

There is a ramp off Hickory Tree Rd on the opposite side of the lake. VERY steep, leads into a canal with about 1/4 mile, give or take, idle speed ride to get into the lake. Another one at end of Bass Hwy that leads into Trout Lake. Never used it, but I hear there are some rocks in the area. Private one at North Shore ?? on Lake Lizzie. That's all I know of Mike.

Way2Fast
03-11-2002, 08:17 PM
If you're launching a 24 footer at the Hickory Tree Ramp and your brakes fail, the boat would probably wedge itself against the chunks of broken concrete on the opposite side of the canal and prevent your vehicle from getting wet !!! :D

the ramps way2fast spoke of are the only public ramps there
as for the rocks at the bass road ramp, theres some gravel there but i have put the talon in there numerous times and it's not bad just pay attention and dont run it up on shore hard
skatermike, put in early saturday at the gator inn ramp and get a parking spot and your good to go i would think, back straight out into the water with the boat dont turn around untill your out in the water, ive seen some pretty big boats put in there and they have deeper running hulls than you, so you should be ok

What if any, laws on open containers (booze)?
Any "slow no wake" areas?
And whats with the "to fast for conditions".
What do they consider "Racing"?
Last time I went boating, there where no Speed Limit Signs.
Is Johnny Law going to be under every bridge, or they just nabbing the folks that need to be stopped?
skatermike24
03-12-2002, 12:03 PM
Don't think the law visits the alligator chain, so as far as booze I think your ok, No speed limits either , I think. You have to remember your in Osceola county, your lucky there is speed limits on the roadways around here!:D :D :D
All kidding aside the law may show up if someone tips them off!!!!
Talon2.5
03-12-2002, 12:37 PM
rule 1,
answers for ya...............
1 open containers are NOT against the law BUT careless and wreckless driving that draws attention will cause investigation into your soberness, as told to me by an officer
2 all the canals are no wake zones and 300 feet off all docks
3 too fast for conditions, too close to structures or other boats that if a misshap that causes loss of control of the vessel that would result in NOT being able to regain control due to excessive speed resulting in an accident
4 racing as they see it (cops) any two or more boats running side by side (for any reason so they say)
5 speed limits at this time to my knowledge on alligator lake have not been set or posted, however do not run full out close to any docks, that has caused an uproar in the past, see #2
6 johnny law has been to these lakes in the past but not often at all, but as skatermike said it is possible "IF" someone tips them off
i think that having not gone to that chain for a few weekends may have helped also

the shallow areas are around the docks roughly 50 some feet out from them i believe and then it gets deeper and deeper 8 foot i believe and deeper, dont have a map on that but never hit bottom with the talon, trim up at the docks, it's a small chain without the traffic to warrent dredging and so on by the county

03-12-2002, 01:40 PM
skip you forgot to mention a couple things
    1. running at an excessive speeds could be considered careless and dangerous do to the fact than an alligator, or log can be struck by your boat and cause an accident!!
     2. for those of you running tunnel boats be extra carefull because if they see air under your boat they consider that to be speeding!!!
Talon2.5
03-12-2002, 02:16 PM
that "air" thing is about the only thing to "explain" to the cops since they dont seem to understand the tunnell thing??

Thanks skip for the maps and all your help. There is a detailed map of the Chain, showing depths etc at the Inn. Once away from shore you won't run aground. No hidden sandbars or anything like that. Alligator is over 30' deep in spots.
I have some (pretty) good news. The owner of the vacant lot adjacent to and just east of the Inn finally called me back today. He said it is OK for us to park our vehicles, trailers etc on his lot. Now we will have NO problem as to parking. It's almost an acre of grass. The only negative is he would like anyone who parks there to pay $5 for the weekend. This would be on the honor system and he said to give the desk at the Inn the 5 bucks to hold for him. I feel this is a small price to pay to prevent the aggravation that parking elsewhere would have caused. And we don't have to feel like we are doing anything illegal and may be chased off the property at any time. Peace of mind is worth the 5 bucks to me.
Looks like we might be getting more participants through the mailing I had Raceboat Rus do for me. Long range weather forcast looks good for the weekend. Knock on wood !!!!

Sounds good. I'll propbably be there for a couple of hours. Depends on how I'm feeling, my legs are still crispy from last Sunday. I still can't believe how stupid I was. Guarantee you I won't leave home without sunscreen for my whiter than white legs next time.

Wish I could have got there today. Beautiful weather. Hope to be at lake by 10am Saturday. Girlfriend has to work testing Seadoos on river tomorrow. She will be there later in day. Anyway 2 cars might be a plus. One for the boat and one to hop around in. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
