Rumble VI Dates: August 18, 19, 20.

If you have been following Jeff Yammer's post on Rumble VI. You saw that I am working on getting prices for the local Hotels. They have not got back with me, as of today, Feb. 11 (Sat), but I will post all their phone numbers so you can call and make your reservations. *Note-Remember last year a big concert came to Ky. Speedway the same weekend and the hotels here were all most sold out. So Please call ahead and make your reservations now, so that we do not have that happen again. Everything this year should go about the same as it has in the years past, Free Beer and Free Pizza Party on Friday nite. Saturday will probably have 3 to 4 classes, like last year, and also plenty of time for grudge racing, AND the Poker Run - later on Saturday afternoon. Then Sat. nite a cook will come in and grill (same as last year), Burgers, corn with all the trimmings and big keg of iced coors light. A new twist this year for the local charity: Shop with a Cop. We will have a sizzling 7 slot machine on site for donations. How this will work is that I plan on having several very nice boating related prizes to give away. What you do is play the slot machine during the cousre of the weekend, the machine will accept one dollar bills, 5's, 10,'s,20's. If anyone Jackpot's the machine (meaning - 3 sizzlers) You win the prize, there will be several prizes in the event of more than one jackpot. On Sunday afternoon, if no one has hit the jackpot then we will draw for the prizes. On late Sunday afternoon, the slot machine will be opened and the money that has been donated from playing the machine will be removed and given to our local Police Department to go toward their "Shop with a Cop" program. We will call this "SLOTS FOR THE COPS". Any questons feel free to give me a call 502 732 4824 or e-mail at speed@ISPWEST.COM. Also the whole thing almost did not happen due to lack of funding. After several meetings I was able to obtain the funds to pay for this event from the Carroll Co. Tourism Commission. Everyone needs to pick-up the phone and give them a friendly Thanks for sponsoring Rumble on the River. Phone #: 800-325-4290 or email: sara@carrolltontourism.com

Here is the Local Hotels & telephone numbers:
Hampton Inn 502-732-0700
Holiday Inn Express 502-732-6661
Super 8 502-732-0252
Days Inn 502-732-9301

I love DOING this thing as much as you guys like coming to It.Might be the last one here In carrollton , Liked to not got the money from them to pay for It this year cause the hotel room count has been down the last 2 years, we need to have a good showing this year or will have to move It cause they will pull the funding. Guess WE will go out with a Big bang, HINT HINT :)

I will have to get firm prices on the what they charge me for the tent but I think 50 bucks a boat for the whole weekend should cover the costs If we fill It up, who else wants tent space, note, all the Talons will go under one tent and there will be no charge.

A tent space would be nice, but not for $50.

Who's staying where? Which hotel's gonna have the most drunks?

tdogcarter
04-01-2006, 09:49 AM
Pyro,

When we refer to "Tent Space", were talking about a huge circus tent for our boats to be under shelter for the weekend.

If you want to Tent Camp, bring it along set it up where ever you want, and hope that your not in the drink the first night. Or if you don't go to bed till the last person then you don't have to worry about that.

Also it gives you a good place to take the can lady to show her your goods.

Its in Carrolton, Kentucky.

If your staying in a hotel, you might want to call now and reserve a room, they are already low and will eventually sell out.

If you do a search on Rumble on the River, you will see about 10 threads from past Rumbles.

This is probably the largest Non-Race event in the midwest for outboards.

one of the downfalls of doing an event this way (no reservations/entry) is you have no clue who/how many or even "if" anyone is going to show.
The upside is that that is also the same reason it is going into year #6!
I am down in Fla now and am hearing that a large contingent of Floridians are heading north as well as a bunch of "REALLY" fast guys (from all over) that don't post.
I also know of several "folks" bringing twins but have asked me to keep their names quiet as well.
A bunch of the Cajuns are making plans as well and those guys love to drag race!
Got a feeling that this year may be something special ;)

P.S. Hey Rude! Trying to talk a friend of ours down here with a very, very fast Johnny to go up with me. If he agrees, we will bring his boat and leave my pig behind.

Maureen if your thinking about going, this is by far the best and largest gathering of outboards in the Midwest, that draws boats from many different states. Not only that it is a lot of fun and very well organized. Get to meet a lot of new people every year I go. Great town and great park to keep your boat at. Locals who come out on Saturday to go boating may not find it their favorite spot to put in as the ramp sometimes gets busy, but they understand.
Sounds like it should be another year of an excellent turn out. Water conditions seem to be great and there are more sponsors than ever. Great Work Tony. Hope to see you there Maureen, maybe bring Greg along again. I am assuming he had a good time in 2003 when he came.

Joe, just come. We'll find yah a place if you don't have one before you head out.
This is "THE" event if you want to talk O/B's, drag race, grudge race, run the top speed contest, bench race etc.......
It's in a 20+ acre mown grass park, right on the water with a boat ramp that's maybe 6 lanes wide???
Also FYI for people looking for names of attendees I would like to state that of all of the people that have won in the drags and or in the top speed contest, or boat show, I don't think ANY of them post (read only) on here.
Have also heard a certain very, very, very fast boat is coming up from Ga.
Also for you Joe, I think their have been more fast JohnRudes at this event every year than any other event combined!
Jeff youngs OMC three point hydro won top speed contest last year.

What do I need to bring other then beer, boat and more beer? Thanks Fastin

The park where we will be is big enough to park an RV (with a generator) and not bother us "non-RV" people :D Many stay right in the pits with their RV. Their is 110 but not really set up as 30/50 amp services (plenty of power but not correct plugs) but think you can get by with an adaptor if you havbe one.
There is a very nice restroom in center of park but no showers.
If you want a "real" RV hook up, go to General Butler Stae Park. 15 mins from pits and beautiful with a view of river from side of mountain.

I'd say a $1,000 pot for the winner at the Rumble is paying for racers to show, but ask Rick Conklin, he's a racer and past up a race within 2 minutes of his house to go to last years Rumble, and is coming back this year.

But if you have been here before you'd be back this year. Maybe next year they will pay for racers. Probably not since they do not need to, they come.

I know Dixon has been there.

Trying to plan on coming to this years event....heard lots of great stuff.
I've called 2 hotels with availability as of Aug. 4th, but what a diff. in rates:
*Days Inn wanted $59/nite until I told her someone posted $44...she agreed on that rate and they have 50 available.
*Hampton Inn has a few available, but there $89/nite.

Who knows the difference in drive time from either hotel to grounds? and I assume we take Taxi's to and from if were pissed drunk...so where do we leave our boats?

Thanks in advance and look forward to meeting.

tdogcarter
08-04-2006, 12:31 PM
Days Inn if you tell them your with Rumble on the River it is $44.99 a night
They are all about 1 - 2 miles from the park.
I normally leave my boat in the park, as they have security at the park after dark.
All the hotels are really close to each other. Days Inn and Holiday Inn if I remember right share the same parking lot. There are some spots at the hotels to park a normal size boat, 22 or less. If you bring a 30 foot motion you are better off keeping it at the park.
When we go out at night we drive back to the Hotel, and then take taxis out from there, or designate a driver, never mind that one, taxis are the way to go.
The park is huge and will hold hundreds of boats and trucks.
Fun time and lots of S & F members attend.

Sounds like Greg and Maureen might be there.

I'm definitely in - flying in to Louisville that morning, and staying at the Days Inn. Not sure if Greg will make it up from FL though.

I look forward to getting some good pics :)

Off duty police will be hired to police the park area both fri and sat nite. 3 miles from hotels to park area and yes dont make the drive If you have to many, come find me [tony] and Ill get you a ride or you can call a cab, Ill put up the cab number at the park. Also 2 weeks away and the river Is at low pool right now with no current and smooth as glass, dont get any better than it Is right now. Tell them at the hotels that you are here for the Rumble and you will get the cheaper rate.

For those of you who are driving to the Rumble down I -65 from the north and plan on getting off the Interstate onto Indiana 256 east be advised that the eastbound exit (34A) is closed. Both east and westbound are sharing the westbound ramp (34B).

Looks like you can get off at exit 36 (hwy 31) and take that south a couple miles to 256 east...

it is in the town of Carrolton, the park is located exactly where the Ohio and Kentucky rivers come together.

You can use the westbound exit off I-65 (34B). When you get to the top of the ramp turn left and proceed eastbound. They are just redoing the eastbound ramp. I just made a trip down to Louisville, Ky. Friday and I-65 was good, little or no construction all the way.

Travis,

Well have to get Dave to step away from the Keg and we can all go run under the bridge in Madison, and Dave can reminise about the movie he just saw. I am looking to burn a few gallons of fuel.
