I am the proud owener of a new Nikon d-50 and was woundering if anyone had any sugestions on photo programs Like the Nikon Capture , photoshop. What works the best or is there any ones i should be looking at.

It depends on what you want to use it for.

Photoshop is expensive if you just want to do some touch ups and a few other tricks..about $ 600.

Photoshop Elements is the son of Photoshop and about 1/3 the cost

I use Paint Shop Pro about $ 100

Just getting into takeing real pics again but in digital, been using the point and shoot digitals for the last few years, want to play more with exposures and shuter speeds, i guess get alittle more artsy lol, i checked out he nikon demo prograsm and its way over my head at the moment but thats the type of thing i want to get into.

all you currently need is a copy of adobe photo elements 4.0. it does all the corrections you may ever need. it will also handle raw conversion. when you feel comfortable try the raw it give you full control. look arround the pe 4.0 is going for about $50 photo shop cs2 is 600.

Or you could download Gimp - a professional quality, open source imaging program that's free. www.gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org). Be warned though, like Photoshop, it has a very steap learning curve. It's available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux.

Gimp is extremely powerful though, and it will give Photoshop a serious run for its money.
