Sure nuff.. mine was weighed with seat, hotfoot, cable pulley steering and a 5" jack plate right about 400 lbs
it had very anemic and short knee braces when new.. They only went up the the underside of the splashwell and covered with what looked like one layer of chopped mat.. The 235 evinrude was bolted on when the boat was brand new and the trailer tire caught a deep hole when rounding a corner and put a nice crack in the transom.. After we put in the new knees all the way to the top of the transom and stringers laminated properly, we couldnt budge the transom one iota, not one tiny flex at all with the 16" v6 merc..Last edited by Ted Stryker; 04-23-2017 at 11:38 AM.

A while back in this thread you were asking about speed you could expect. This hull (with the 17 Hydrostream and 16 Action)was the classic JP boat in the late 70's early 80's. Most ran 150 Merc, some guy tried with the OMC. I recall that what I think was a good top speed for a race (not set up for Kilos) was 84. I would think your 99 ci OMC, if it is a 140, should get it to high 70's low 80's. And we had to run bone stock--sounds like you may have some ideas for the motor.
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

Motor's purty strong. Scalloped block & pistons, squared off ports, lil knocked off the heads, '77 drilled mid, etc. We're thinkin 80 or so isn't too far fetched?

It should easily.. my 16' with a warmed over 140 ran 71mph at 1/2 track (SDBA event) with a bummy 23 omc silver streak and rpm'd out very shortly thereafter

Okay. After some delay ... we're back on the project. Hope to get the motor hung this weekend.
Need to do a couple mods to the jackplate first. For some reason the bottom bolt slot isn't as tall as the top. Won't let it go all the way up. Gave it to Ultrafast this afternoon and he's gonna waller it out for me on his mill.
Stay tuned.'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

Yep, Did that on the way to the ramp for the first time. 20inch motor no transom support. Should have known better. We had James Wilkins build that boat heavy as it needed the weight for our class anyhow. I always liked that lil yellow boat to. You have a picture of me in it at Lake Buhlow I think.
