Baker Rst Tunnel ???
Can anyone tell me any information on this hull i haven't been able to find much.It is a 20ft tunnel-vee left-hand steer and says Baker Custom Boats RST on the side its a 1982.I loved the way it looked and chased the boat for afew years after buying it then returning it after seller couldnt come upwith the title and now aquiring it again from another owner. It's only hull and trailer both solid but needing refinishing. For starters how much would bare boat and trailer be worth if i decided to sell, would it be worth doing a full resto? If resto happens what would be proper motor setup to reach about 95mph.I talked to my dad who said he rode in one in the 80's and said it was one of most stable boats he had ever been in. Are these boats rare? Are they worth any thing ? Are they fast?Where were they built?Any history? I would appreciate any information .Thanks Damp

You are right about the Stoker connection. Before Stoker boats came into existence, Baker hulls were used in the old Mod VP class on the west coast at least. The first ones were non tunnels, but the Baker RST (for rally sport tunnel) was raced successfully by Al Stoker. The Stokers then incorporated many features of the Baker into their own design, called the Stoker SST, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The search button is your friend. Lots of info here. Lots of controversy also. member Racer here could give you a pretty good idea of the history.
Damn good boats if you ask me. Post up some pics of it.
Here is Stoker in a Baker I believe.Jason

I own one and love it. Very fast boat and extremely stable at high speeds. Mine is a 21' with a 225 HO Johnson. The guy that sold it to me said that these were actually built by Eliminator under contract from baker. So it technically is an eliminator hull (meaning it was made by them).

I don't believe that is true, I think it was for the Stokers, but I am thinking Jerry built his own boats (at least in '88 he did). Ron Hill or Alan Stoker would know better.
Hazard...Awesome boat! Any Idea what it weighs? I had a buddy with a Black one just like yours only a raceboat. Light, Fast and strong!Last edited by LakeRacer99; 02-13-2008 at 10:57 AM.

I've always thought the Stokers were all built by Eliminator out west, hence the tendency toward left hand drive, pleated multicolor interiors, and of course the EL prefix in the HIN number.

Thanks for the pics your Baker looks great. What kind of speed are you getting out of the 225 Johny, i have a old 2.6 x.p 235 rude i was thinking about putting together just to get mine in the water this year but had hopes of going with maybe a 260 merc if funds and the wife allow. I had to sell my V-king cause the wife thought it was to unstable at high speeds she wants a deck boat but that just ain't cool. The Baker I heard was very stable and took wakes well. If it is possible could i get pics of the front seats mine has some crappy buckets but i beleive the originals were front to backs which i would much rather have.

I use mine out on Lake Erie. I had a checkmate v-hull and it was horrible with any chop at all. This Baker is awesome. It handles 1-2 foot chop with no problem and is the most stable boat I have ever been in. At high speeds, it doesn't chine walk either.
With the 32 prop, I'm in the 80's. I need to work on my prop situation though, I think its capable of high 80's to low 90's.
Mine came with regular bucket seats, I would also prefer the front to backs (and may do it if I replace the interior). Not sure what was original, but here are some pics. These are the best ones I have:
