Lithium Pros had a tent in Jasper last year. They are the real deal and great people to talk to about batteries. You don't have to spent thousands on a lithium battery if you don't need to. They will talk you through your application and get the right one without spending more than you need to. But it is still pricey and often times it is just not something needed. The drag boats have found them handy for reducing weight but that is not the only benefit they get from them.

Weight is one advantage, the other is that the lithium batteries like a Voltphreak are way stronger than a conventional battery. They're expensive but they really are a better mousetrap

In NZ alot of the jet boat guys are running them. They seem to last and are a good means of weight reduction. I am off to the Auckland Boat show tomorrow and will specifically search them out for some information. I would like to run them in the Nova when ever it gets completed.

I sell simple, inexpensive LifePO4 packs for racing. They are light and much stronger (better voltage, typ 13.2v with everything running). Been using them for 2 years now and will use them even if I have to add weight to make a class. email srnecr@sbcglobal.net - I'm not always on here.

I'm using the batteries that Rich has. My starting battery weighs 4.4 lbs and I haven't killed it yet from a full charge. I've cranked the motor app 50 times with quite a bit of compression and the battery still maintained 13.1-13.2 volts throughout a run on my data logger. The power is also more stable. I typically only drop a tenth of a volt during the course of a pass. That's with the trim running and a Weldon 2015 pump. A conventional battery won't do that
