How fast has the Viper been? GPS speed?
First, I'm a LONG way from any attempt at any record and probably +50 hp shy. Through some searching I've seen Ronnie's around 106-107 and Capt's about the same. I know Wayne Weeks ran over 115 yrs back in a Vector, I was just curious if a Viper has been over 107 on the GPS? I don't think this white boy would ever attempt it!

Probably, but maybe 1-2 mph over for me. I ran out of anything to prove to myself years ago in it. Which is why a 24 stayed on the shaft, most of the time. I'd rather be in my HST at 100mph steering with my knee, eating a sammich, than steering with my buttcheeks in a viper. Glad to say I'm over it. That boat will still be the most fun to me with a 76-78 175 with the heads cut, xr-6 case and a 5 petal horizontal front on it.

Yea, I can't complain about the 2.0's, they run pretty well. There cheap and plentiful also.

Very funny! I also like the training wheels on cats/tunnels. Point and shoot.

Nothing against training wheels, but if I had a boat like that, I'm afraid it'd be as dangerous or even more dangerous than my viper. Simply because 100 in a cat or tunnel is a bit boring to me. I'm guessing I would want to push one too fast and be about where I'm at with this Viper. My LTV and YT were boring in the mid 90's. JMO

I'd say that's moving, no doubt! I'm somewhat on the fence about going with more pitch? I'm turning this 32 around 6,900. As others have said, the peak power should be in the low 6's. I just don't want to get it so lugged down where it won't get over the hump?

The first Viper over 100 was back in the mid-70's. Sammy Naser of Action Marine, Dearborn Michigan, married a new mildly modified 1750XS to a new 15' Viper, with the windsheild on, at 107 mph on a Keller speedo. He did blow it over once, on the Detroit River, but he used it quite a bit. The name he painted on the deck sides was: "Mother's Worry".
