Boat Stolen...............
This was my friends boat stolen from his fenced in compound a mile from my house off 99th ST in Sebastian Florida. I helped build this boat and it is one of a kind and easy to identify.
Here's the part that really sucks. He told me today that they had a witness see the truck in the area at night, looking suspicious, then turned it's lights out and drove down their service road which is a dead end.
This witness called 911 and the dispatcher told her it was probably a repo in progress and not to worry about it. The dispatcher then did NOTHING!! The witness then saw them pull away w/the boat in tow!!!!!!!!!!
Bellow is his ad on craigslist. This boat was his life. Designed by him based off of a 25' Bertram. He and his son built it w/mine and others help. He built and sold two others and this was his demo/display boat.
Now he's fk'd.
Please keep your eye out for a good guy that did not deserve this.
Thanks, Gary

Ask for the recordings....failure to assist with proof is an easy lawsuit....that dispatcher will get his/her ass handed to them....

Normally boats like that are in the islands within days and gone forever. I will forward the comments about the 911 dispatcher and was thinking similar.
Thanks guy.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

Never a good read to read about an item stolen. I agree they will have it in the Islands in no time or it will be found totally stripped. You can bet guys that steal boats like that are pros and this boat is not their first rodeo.
Good luck with the dispatcher, tough battle but something worth looking into. If nothing else maybe they will send a car to check the call out next time.
Good luck either way!!

Gary,
There must be a ring of thieves operating along US 1 right now. We had two Center Consoles stolen up here in Melbourne in the last couple of weeks. Both were stolen from businesses that are right on US1 and one of them actually got video footage of the theft in progress.
Hope these bastards get caught soon.

Looks like the 911 service will hire any moron that can answer the phone. He should sue if they have not erased the tapes. He can also request recordings of intersection camara`s in that area for a possible plate number. It would have been cool if that witness had gotten close enough to get the number too. This story sounds so much like all the other Florida theft stories. If i lived there and had a boat i think i would have to have a tracking divice on it that you can get an app on you phone and track it yourself. Just like the ones they inject in dogs called 'Home again".
